Antica Trattoria Ponte di Pino — Restaurant in Carlazzo

Truly excellent food and service, minutes away from Menaggio! We were looking for dinner away from the normal tourist areas and our local AirBnB host recommended we head west, towards Porlezza, for more authentic restaurant options. We're glad we took her advice because we found Antica Trattoria Ponte di Pino and enjoyed one of the best meals we've ever had in Italy! Not only was the food unique and absolutely delicious, the people were kind and welcoming. To start, we had the "Sedani Gialli Dalla Rabbia" (fresh Sedani pasta with extra virgin olive oil, chili pepper, and sauce of yellow Datterini tomatoes) and their famous Risotto (the version with Parmigiano Reggiano and "Pesteda" flavored pepper, creamed with beef marrow and a reduction of aged rum. Both of these dishes were so marvelous that we had to try more and proceeded to get the Roll of Local Rabbit, boneless, stuffed with speck, potatoes, and porcini mushrooms. We had a full course dinner (antipasti, primi & secundi & dolci). We enjoyed every single dish we had. The risotto was outstanding. In addition we loved the selection of 37,5 cl of bottles of wine (it was only the two of us). It allowed us to have a bottle for the antipasti and primi piatti and a bottle for the secundi piatti. In total we paid € 113,= (for two persons, 4 courses + coffee + wine). This was very enjoyable. We had dinner outside. The table setting inside is not what the picture shows. The true setting allows for much more privacy. We love Italian food, and are rather critical about it. This place however, is one we truly recommend. This gem is right in the middle of the road between Como and Lugano. The pastoral and peaceful location and the surrounding landscapes are the perfect backdrop for the culinary celebration that this place offers. A selection of traditional Italian dishes in which it is evident that a lot of emotion and emphasis is invested in the small details, and really provide a real Italian experience. And completes the warm and cordial hospitality experience of the owners who give a feeling of homeliness and an inviting welcome.
