L'Ancora Bistrò Ristorante Pizzeria — Restaurant in Casamicciola Terme

A wannabe fancy restaurant where the staff gives you the look when you just come for drinks and if you do not cave, they will charge you 4€ (we should have paid 11,6€ for drinks, so it was almost 40% service charge!)Awful! On top of that, they brought my husband a large drink when he asked for small. An absolute scam and nothing to do with the general Italian/Ischian hospitality and market prices! Avoid! P.S. As the restaurant tried to mark me as a fraud immediately and calling it a "mistake", I am attaching a picture. Shows some integrity of the restaurant:) The "Coperto" is usually included for food services, normally is 10 percent of charge and bringing drinks to the table really does not cost all the cutlery setting and other amenities that normally comes with a meal. Not to mention intentionally bringing a different size of a drink to compensate for not ordering food (sorry for passing by after dinner and seeing a nice restaurant to stop by for a drink,...

Our experience was overall a disappointment. The first course was good, mixed platter of bruschetta, meats, aubergine parmigiana. However, for the mains one of our group was upsold the €44 sea bass. It was presented whole and cooked and looked good. But then was not filleted correctly and what turned up looked like tinned fish. It had no accompaniments and we were told it could feed 2 (luckily it wasn’t being shared but at that price you’d hope to be well fed!).We felt they were just trying to sell it that day before it was past its best. Another main the entrecôte was too tough to eat, and tasted as if the grill had not been clean. We didn’t stay for dessert and this was still the most expensive meal we had on the island. Our hotel was quite shocked, so perhaps we caught them on a bad day, but not a place...

I really hate to leave a bad review. First of all, the antipasti and the pizza were very good, hence the 2 stars. Sadly, I also ordered a grilled calamari, which was simply inedible, it had the taste of licking a very burned grill - super bitter, no other taste. I understand that sometimes errors happen. What I don’t understand is including an item on the bill which was not eaten, and clearly stated to be terrible - it would have been enough to just smell the food before presenting it.
