When you just can say no to Fries :/

So I ate at this establishment today with my wife , she ordered pasta and I ordered the fillet mingnon steak €30 .

The pasta was great and very tasty .

However when ordering the steak I didn’t realise it didn’t come with anything at all, so when the food came I asked if I could order a side of fries , the waitress said it would take a few minutes , to which I replied don’t worry I won’t have the fries . We had then both finished our meals when a plate of fries arrived via the same waitress . I said that I had told her that I didn’t want them in the beginning , to which she said ....... You have to eat them no as they are on your bill :/ .

Clearly I didn’t eat them but the waitress still made me pay for them , I understand there may of been a language barrier but I received perfect English when she told me I had to eat them .

I think in this instance common sense must prevail and it’s only a plate of chips / fries . So is it really worth making the costumers feel awkward and giving them a bad experience over a plate of fries ?

The fries still remained on the table as we left the waitress wasn’t taking no for an answer !

We payed for the bill for the meal and the fries and left .

The steak wasn’t that great either , I’ve had a lot better .

The wood fire was nice to look at but I’m certain my steak wasn’t cooked in that style .

In all a really awkward experience caused over a plate of fries .

Also the toilets are disgusting and most are not working and look...

Purtroppo devo ricredermi. Conosco questo locale da quasi 10 anni e in passato mi sono sempre trovato bene, a parte i servizi igienici che sono da quarto mondo. Hanno realizzato un solo bagno nuovo e devi chiedere la chiave per utilizzarlo ...la penultima volta 110 euro in due e quando ho chiesto la chiave mi hanno detto che l'avevano persa...(sforziamo di crederci). Ripeto in passato ho scritto sempre recensioni positive , contestando anche quelle negative di scarsa obiettività, ma oggi le hanno superate tutte: Siamo in tre ordiniamo, al nuovo e poco simpatico responsabile di sala (molto più efficienti le storiche cameriere ), due antipasti crudo e mozzarella da dividere in tre , due secondi di carne, stranamente oggi c'erano pochi e costosi tagli, è un primo di paccheri per me, una bottiglia di vino piccola ( il tizio spingeva addirittura su un chianti ...senza mostrare la carta dei vini). Dopo nemmeno due minuti vedo sfilare una cameriera con due piatti di pacchetti gemelli da 8 paccheri cadauno ( forse li avevano dietro l'angolo) e me ne servono uno.....ovviamente abituato negli anni alle porzioni da trattoria di Area Varlese, riferisco al fantomatico direttore di sala che la porzione è veramente esigua ma per non fare storie, almeno al principio, lascio stare, ma giustamente mio figlio mi fa notare che avevo ragione e che inoltre non avevano ancora servito gli antipasti. Richiamimo il responsabile e gli faccio presente la cosa e gli porgo il piatto invitandolo a riportato in cucina , costui pretendeva di aver ragione arrampicandosi sugli specchi ed allora ho dovuto, forse anche in maniera stizzosa fargli notare tutte le mancanze avute e sulla porzione dei piatti , l'ho invitato a leggere il nome trattoria sul logo del locale.....risposta è la vecchia insegna .......controrisposta .....se avessi voluto un ristorante gourmet ci sarei andato , invece ero in una trattoria con dei bagni che sono delle latrine ( sono 10 anni che ci vado e sono 10 anni che dicono che li devono renedere civili). Non la tiro ancora per le lunghe, ma in autostrada mi accordo di 13 euro in più caricati sul conto, ma per fortuna sarei dovuto rientrare da Roma e qundi al telefono gli ho invitati a lasciarli al bar perché li avrei ripresi ripassando li nei pressi. Che dire si avverte l'assenza del simpaticissimo e professionale Sig. Antonio......che sapeva gestire bene la sala...concludendo 160 euro in tre con qualità della carne che nelle ultime volte non è stata all'altezza degli anni passati Da consigliarlo ad occhi chiusi oggi non lo raccomando...

Looking at the photos it looks like this establishment has had a few makeovers. In its current state, it is a tour bus rest area. Decent sized bathroom facilities, with souvenirs on display as well as clothing items that I don't know if they are authentic or not. They also function as a cafeteria style restaurant. Food is kind of meh, though the meatballs and arancini were ok. Definitely overpriced. I don't know if there's something under the table that allowed this place to be our rest stop both ways on our group tour from Rome to Pompeii/Positano, but it could be...
