Colle de Siena Ristorante & Rooms — Restaurant in Cassino

After 2 days in Umbria, where we had thankfully rented a house, so were able to cook ....2 restaurant meals out a disaster...We discovered this gem, and we are VERY fussy. Lovely antipasti of Vongole, very fresh, cooked to perfection, just some herbs to let the flavour of the clams shine through. A Spagettoni with big Prawn, small prawns, clams and mussels in a lovely tomato broth, finished in a foil bag in the oven, great odours of fish when we opened the parcel, just delicious. For a main course we had a perfect fritto misto, cooked in very clean oil. Pudding was a lovely homemade Lemon mousse topped with freshly grated Lemon rind. Bearing in mind each of these dishes were share between 2 of us, and we couldnt finish it all, it was great value for money. The restaurant is situated in the country, with great views, professional friendly service. All in all a great find in a country that produces fine food mostly at home. Just to add to a previous review today, the majority of serious restaurants do not serve pizza at lunchtime, and also when we arrived the restaurant was redolant with the perfume of porcini...

After struggling to find a restaurant that was both open and close to our hotels, my colleague and I stumbled upon this place with no expectations — and were more than pleasantly surprised.

From the moment we arrived, we were charmed by the atmosphere. The waiter greeted us warmly at the door and offered us a glass of Prosecco to start the evening.

The food was excellent: my colleague had the lamb and chocolate profiteroles, while I chose the spaghetti al cartoccio and a sort of millefoglie scomposta for dessert — a deconstructed mille-feuille with whipped cream and red berry coulis. Everything tasted home-cooked and refined — truly great value for the quality.

The service was flawless from start to finish. When we asked the waiter to call a taxi to avoid a long walk along the national road at night, he kindly offered to drive us back himself, since our accommodations were just a few minutes' ride away.

Locale comodamente raggiungibile, location che dispone anche di tavoli all'esterno circondati dal verde, all'interno gli ambienti sono sobri ed eleganti, la cura per i dettagli si denota anche dai semplici fiori freschi che si trovano a tavola, l'atmosfera é accogliente e resa ancora più rilassante dalla piacevole musica di sottofondo. Il servizio é 5 stelle già dalla tipologia di accoglienza che viene riservata al cliente, gentilezza, garbo e professionalità sono il cuore del personale di sala che ha soddisfatto tempestivamente ed in maniera esaustiva ogni nostra richiesta. I tempi sono stati precisi, senza inutili attese ma rispettosi. Un plauso speciale va alla cucina, la qualità, la freschezza e la genuinità delle materie prime sono indiscusse, trattate con cura, rispettando ed esaltando le caratteristiche organolettiche di ogni singolo elemento. Noi abbiamo optato per una cena di pesce. Successivamente all'entrée con degustazione di olio di Venafro e dopo un prosecco di benvenuto, abbiamo ordinato ostriche, insalatina di mare e capesante scottate per antipasto, tutto ottimo, dalla consistenza del polpo e del calamaro ( che ne conferma la freschezza ) al gusto pieno, vero, di mare delle ostriche. La linguina al limone e gambero rosso di Mazzara delicata e gustosa, per non parlare del tonno rosso scottato con granella di pistacchio ed una crumble verosimilmente di pan grattato che é stato un vero piacere per il nostro palato, squisito. Per concludere pastiera appena sfornata, ottima ! Il vino della casa (13€) ha sorpreso le nostre aspettative, un teanum vento falanghina-chardonnay che con i suoi sentori floreali si é accompagnato perfettamente al pesce che abbiamo assaggiato. Una bottiglia d'acqua Ferrarelle, due caffé e due digestivi, meno di 50€ a persona. Le quantità sono state abbondanti per ogni singola portata, la qualità anche se sono ripetitivo é innegabile, alti livelli, anche nel servizio ! É un luogo insieme al personale che lo gestisce che vi rimane nel cuore. 5 stelle meritate per la splendida "famiglia" del Colle de Siena ! Approposito hanno anche delle stanze, che noi non abbiamo avuto il piacere di vedere ma torneremo a trovarli e sará l'occasione giusta per provare...
