Domarò — Restaurant in Castellabate

Personally, I have never experienced anything as negative in the restaurant business as I did that evening, and I have worked in it myself for a long time. To be clear, these are our personal opinions, subjective perception and thoughts about our visit to the restaurant Domao.

The gentleman who served us was courteous, very friendly and humorous at the beginning. However, after we had ordered, which was probably too little for typical customs, and revealed where we came from, this changed completely. We got the food very quickly, appetizer and then our dishes, but without talking to us, asking questions or being friendly to our sensibilities. About the quantity and the price-performance ratio can be argued, we personally found it much too expensive for the quantity and quality. Pizza, by the way, there was also not, we were told.

It was cleared just as quickly, a demand as it tasted, whether we have other wishes for a dessert, wine, drinks, etc. was missing, however, the whole rest of the evening. We had the feeling that the waiters ignored us very deliberately. Every contact was avoided and only after more than 20 minutes and multiple eye contact, address as well as by hands make noticeable, someone has reacted to pay. The store as such was not empty, but also not full.

The waiter brought us a bill crumpled together, said nothing and handed it to us in passing against, almost throwing, in the hand without looking at us. When we paid, we saw on the way out that the waiter had charged us more money by credit card than was on the bill. Only a few euros, yet it was not our desire to pay more (receipts are both still available).

These are our subjective experiences and our personal opinions with and about the Domaro restaurant. Everyone is of course free to try it and hopefully have better times there than we did. We, however, would not set foot in this establishment again. We felt nothing of Italian hospitality, perhaps because we were the wrong tourists for the restaurant. Domarò è un locale presente a San Marco, nella piazza principale del paese affaccia questo locale a metà tra la trattoria classica e il moderno, esteticamente non è nulla di eccezionale ma comunque nella norma. Ci sediamo in 4 verso le 21:30, con il locale mediamente pieno, e partiamo subito male con un menù scarnissimo, (magari fosse stato un menù normale, era un pezzo di carta sgualcito.) Un cameriere piuttosto frettoloso imbandisce la tavola, mentre ci apprestiamo a ordinare. Una volta ordinate le pietanze scelte inizia una lunga attesa, l'antipasto alla ''cilentana'' viene servito dopo 20-25 minuti, per UNA persona, non per 4 come sarebbe normale visto che le persone sedute a tavola erano appunto 4. Antipasto pessimo, l'unica mozzarellina presente era una di quelle surgelate, il resto a malapena sufficiente. Dopo l'antipasto ulteriori 40 minuti di attesa per ricevere solo 2 dei 4 piatti ordinati, abbiamo dovuto mangiare in 2 mentre gli altri commensali attendevano, gli altri piatti sono arrivati quando ormai avevamo finito di mangiare, rovinando completamente l'esperienza che ci si aspetta quando si va a cena fuori insieme. Per giunta la cameriera portando le due fritture di pesce arrivate dopo un ora, invece di scusarsi per l'attesa assurda si.è anche sentita di fare una bella battuta ridicola sostenendo che la porzione fosse ''molto abbondante'' quando non lo era affatto, per giunta i gamberi e gli anellini di pesce erano SURGELATI, in un posto di mare come San Marco è veramente il colmo, vergognoso. Unica nota positiva gli scialatielli, che erano veramente buoni. In conclusione abbiamo pagato 82 euro per 4 piatti di cui 2 schifosi e arrivati anche dopo un ora dall'antipasto, il tutto abbinato alla scortesia della cameriera che ha dato il tocco finale a un posto veramente pessimo, sopratutto considerando che in una trattoria a 500 metri dal mare si presume che sia presente almeno la freschezza del pesce. Se volete mangiare bene vi consiglio di arrivare al porticciolo dove è pieno di posti molto migliori dove si spende anche meno, questo è uno di quei locali da evitare in qualsiasi caso, scortesia e poca professionalità sono di casa, il peggio del peggio. Infine aggiungo anche che solo due camerieri su 4 presenti indossavano le mascherine quando servivano i piatti, gli altri erano sguarniti completamente, inoltre all'ingresso non hanno nemmeno misurato la temperatura, quindi alla poca professionalità, al pessimo cibo, e alla pessima esperienza si aggiunge anche la mancanza del rispetto delle normative attualmente vigenti, mettendo dunque i commensali a rischio....

Clearly very popular with the locals, with a great ambience in the predominantly outdoor eating area - especially on a warm late-June evening. We arrived unbooked at the 7.30pm opening time (don'tbelieve the Google opening hours!) and ate a single course each for dinner. The food was well-prepared and delicious (ravioli and scialatielli marinara, plus seasonal vegetables), accompanied by a glass of local falanghina white wine. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting San Marco...
