Tramonto d'Oro — Restaurant in Castellabate

I arrived at 1:30pm completed soaked in sweat having cycling 95km in the heat and humidity.

I tried ordering a pizza and a calzone but he said they only serve pizza and calzone at night, so I ordered ravioli. Prices were typical of restuarants in the area so I had no issues with the price of the ravioli. When I asked to have tap water he said no, I must pay 3euro for a small bottle of water. Refusing to spend 6 or 9 euro on water, I took my bottle to the toilet and he said guests are not allowed to take water from the bathroom either, saying 'this is a restaurant, you must pay for our drinks.'

I understand it's a business, but if your business does not have the decency to let people have water from the bathroom for free then I can not recommend anyone to visit this restaurant. The staff spoke English so there was no misunderstanding how they felt.

He recommended I go to the bar down the road so I left and had a very pleasant experience with the kind people at the bar/cafeteria/gelato place where they allowed me to fill my personal water bottle from the bathroom sink...

We found this place by accident, fell in love with it and just kept coming back. We also were a group of foreigners and we felt most welcome and at home there. The food was great (the brisket is otherworldly) and the service is nice and competent. Silvestro was happy to tell us about local cuisine and preparation methods. È capitato diverse volte di passare davanti a questo ristorante, oggi abbiamo voluto provare a fermarci per pranzo. Situato a bordo della nazionale tra agropoli e santa maria di castellabate la locatiom nonostante il nome in realtà non credo goda di panorami mozzafiato. La sala interna, dove abbiamo pranzato e abbastanza grande, non ha nulla di particolare nell'arredamento ma è gradevole. Il servizio è stato veloce e gentile. Vengono proposti alcuni piatti nel menu del giorno che cambiano di volta in volta. Da questo menu abbiamo scelto di prendere 2 frittatine di pasta, costo non proprio economico, ma davvero home made e di qualità. Le abbiamo abbinate ad una porzione di antipasto (tramonto d'oro), classico con salumi, ottimi, e qualche verdurina. A seguire due primi piatti, uno davvero buonissimo, scilatielli salsiccia, melenza e pomodorini, l'altro viceversa abbastanza insapore sono stati degli scialatielli con salsiccia e porcini in bianco. Il tutto accompagnato da acqua ed una coca cola grande. Caffè finale. Il tutto è costato 54€.
