Bar Alimentari Società Orchestrale — Restaurant in Castellina in Chianti

I don’t know how to begin this review, I am genuinely quite shocked at the meal.

This place was mentioned to us by the vineyard hotel as a “more casual option” as opposed to the fine dinning across the road. We thought this would suit us for an easy option and the photos online looked good.

There are very few options for food, like 6 things if you exclude the stuff that has been left in the counter all day (we assume). You would expect that means that they would do the few dishes very well… unfortunately the food was okay at best.

We witnessed a couple things are really brought hygiene into question - ie staff blowing nose in the middle of all the tables and not washing hands and people eating over our food as it was being brought out to us.

It cost €46 for 2 and I am quite downtrodden about the experience. This is NOT a proper restaurant and I would treat it as a bar for food only.

The wine was good, as you would expect in a vineyard but not enough to cheer our mood...
