Osteria Di Fonterutoli — Restaurant in Castellina in Chianti

We had high hopes for this place. It came well recommended. The young lady server was quite nice and the only one with a smile. Others weren't too friendly, maybe even arrogant. We ordered six plates and two salads. Any other place in Tuscany, this would have been plenty for five adults. The main dishes were appetizer size, and even then on the small side for an appetizer. The salads were small plates of greens with no dressing. For this place, you need to order several plates per person to get enough food. Dishes were pricier than other restaurants and the food was actually subpar, even though the presentation aspired for higher quality. We really didn't like the food and we have liked most places we tried in Tuscany. They do have a long beverage list if you want alcoholic beverages. The clients looked like rich locals. We had a wonderful family dinner for four (mid-July). Highly recommended. The food was delicious, creative and clearly prepared by someone who loves what they do. The wine was spot on. The location has a great view and atmosphere. We arrived late in the afternoon for a stay at Castello di Fonterutoli Wine Resort. The kind staff managed to get us a reservation for dinner. The service at the Osteria was excellent. The staff served the table at the right moment, very well balanced, and had an incredible attention to detail. For example, together with a great knowledge of the courses, they picked up on the orders, and without asking, prepared a vegetarian complementary appetizer for one of us while the others were served something equally special. Awesome experience in the b&b in fonterutoli, the people is so warmth that treat you like an old friend, it seems like they are challenging each other to be the nicest, this creates an incredible relaxing world in between the Tuscany hills. The fonterutoli's restaurant does not need any word, top level dishes with undescribable flavour and creativity that surprise anyone. We've been there only for two days on November,w felt like home. A special thanks to the waiter David that make us dreaming telling us ancient stories about the places there around and even bring us around Siena in his break showing the little secret of the city that only local people know.
