Ruvì Restaurant - Santoro Country House — Restaurant in Castiglione di Sicilia

First of all, I saw that restaurant with really good reviews and called to book it.

I have to say that the service, the staff and the atmosphere are great. It's really a nice place for a dinner.

However, I was disappointed by the food which is the core essential of a restaurant. I wouldn't say it was bad but that it lacked taste.

I started with gnocchis that were nice at first but becomes quite overwhelming at some point.

The octopus was interesting but the way it was cooked, there were some spongy/elastic and non cooked areas.

The desert was tasteless at best.

It was quite expensive for the quality of the food. Even the orange juice was quite acid.

EDIT: thanks for your answer. Indeed I should have pointed out that the overall cooking lacked a bit of taste but I did say that the octopus was not cooked properly and I didn't say anything to you regarding the dessert. At first, I really liked the gnocchis but i realized that it was quite heavy and lacked a bit of taste.

I am not saying that people should avoid this place but to me the rating (4.9/5) is too exaggerated for the quality delivered. I also didn't mention that the quantities were also generous.

But since the waiter was really nice, I didn't dare to speak my mind about it. I didn't want to offend you which was my mistake.

Please don't take it personally. I am only trying to reflect my experience. Good luck...

Location incantevole, immersa nel suggestivo paesaggio Etneo. Basta salire sul terrazzo per godere delle promesse di un intenso cielo terso di azzurro, che si fonde nei profili collinari verdi e rigogliosi. Si sente profumo di verità e accenni di vita semplice nei campi intorno alla struttura. Curato nei dettagli internamente in un ricercato equilibrio tra materie, profumi e arredo. La cordialità con la quale siamo stati accolti rispecchia in todo lo spirito di accoglienza tipico della nostra terra. Il personale giovane e professionale si è messo immediatamente a disposizione e la signora Annalisa e ci ha accompagnati nel tour della struttura, mostrandoci con orgoglio e partecipazione personale angoli e potenziali del Ruvì. Il direttore Giovanni ha percepito con distinta sagacia le nostre esigenze di sobrietà. In sala l'atmosfera ci ha trasmesso grande quiete dopo una giornata di ansie diffuse, la preparazione, l'impiattamento, e il gusto di ogni preparazione hanno soddisfatto e superato ogni nostra aspettativa. Equilibrio e sapore autentico hanno contraddistinto ogni portata. Il servizio ai tavoli è stato impeccabile e la conduzione della responsabile di sala, Elisa ci ha lasciati totalmente...

Locale molto che sposa lo stile d’arredamento moderno con il tradizionale siciliano, ottima cantina di vini con etichette del territorio. Siamo stati accolti con un entrée di degustazioni di oli siciliani offerti dalla casa. Piatti ben cucinati e materie prime di altissimo livello e tutte del territorio, personale molto preparato giovane ed attento alla cura del cliente. Premetto avevamo prenotato per le 13 ma a causa di un problema durante il percorso abbiamo ritardato sino alle 15, ci hanno aspetto senza nessun problema ed accolto con molta cordialità. Che dire basta guardare le foto dei piatti parlano da sole.
