After arriving at the Catania airport from Palermo, my wife and I had six hours to kill prior to our flight’s departure. We had no interest in spending that time in the airport so after a quick Google search to find a place along the ocean where we could have lunch we settled upon Marivista. The taxi ride over was €37 but I can happily tell you now that was money well spent. We arrived shortly after 11am and they were still preparing the restaurant for it’s opening at noon so we ordered two glasses of Prosecco while we waited. There are plenty of comfy places to sit outside either in the sun or shade and the view of the beach and ocean is beautiful and calming. Shortly after noon we were seated and proceeded to order. My wife had the Bavette al Tarantina (essentially linguine and clams) while I ordered the risotto della pescatora. Both dishes were fabulous and we made sure to ask for some bread to sop up the delicious broth of my wife’s dish. The entire experience was truly magical and better than we ever could have imagined. Between the food and the picturesque setting watching the sailboats peacefully float by it was a perfect way to spend our time. Curiously, the ride back to the airport was only €25. To us the cab fare was worth it to be able to spend a wonderful afternoon there. I would highly recommend anyone else do the same if you have a few hours to spend prior to...
Read moreWe had a wonderfule experience here. The food was delicious and the price is good for the atmosphere and quality. We asked for a table outside and they set us one up under umbrella with a beautiful view of the sea. There's plenty of place to play for children and a big playground. Also on the ocean. We were here April 5th so weather was still cool. There is also a pool which will be nice in summer. My only critique is the service was a little slow to get served drinks or food. We enjoyed a bottle of wine 15€, beer 3€, kids pasta 6€, melon and prosciutto €10, mussels 15€, big salad with mozzarella and tuna 12€, coffee 1,5€, and more very good prices. The food was all excellent. The café americano was not tasty and in a big glass. I wasn't a fan of the coffee. There is a nice wine list for those familiar with local wines form 15€ up. There's also local artisanal beers and...
Read moreWhat a gem just outside Catania! We wanted to grab something to eat by the beach and after a short walk we stumbled upon Marivista. Even though the restaurant was supposed to be closed for one more hour (they open at 19:00) the waitress nicely invited us inside and made us feel well taken care of. We had wonderful octopus salad (must try!!!), some oysters, pasta with mussels and local grilled fish (to die for!). Together with Italian wine it was a really tasty experience right by the beach. All in all, we highly recommend visiting this restaurant. Lovely service (we were also given cannolis at the end of our meal) and excellent fish and seafood. What else can you ask for? Thank you a lot and see...
