I am more than sorry to have to rate this experience so low, but for a starred restaurant, too many things were off balance, especially since the restaurant has had its star for well over 10 years now (since 2013). First off to the good things, because they of course were there. The scenery, the interior design of the restaurant and the Villa itself were beautiful to observe and aesthetically pleasant. The guest room is cozy and elegant, modern and timeless at the same time. We were impressed with the room and our table. Aperitif service was really good, the sommelier was friendly and competent and later on suggested an amazing wine. The possibility to have service in English was nice as well. We chose the vegan menu which, sadly, was a different one to the one on the website. This of course can happen due to seasonality, but since we just reservated a few days prior, it was of course a little bit unexpected. After the greetings from the kitchen, which were kindly also prepared vegan, we were given the menus and confirmed our water and menu choice. As for the wine only I could drink this evening and wanted to opt for 1-2 glasses. Never got to the second glass sadly, because my wine glass was taken without any question if I would have liked another one. My partner was offered another glass of the non-alcoholic aperitif, but upon decline he was not offered any other drinks than water anymore (a small thing, but another non-alcoholic drink would have been nice). As for the food: we chose the vegan option because we wanted to try the original menu from the website, even though we normally also eat an omnivorous diet. The new menu sounded a little less intriguing than the old one, but we still wanted to try it. Sadly it was not, in our opinion, up to Michelin standards. Of course again, we appreciate the chefs ambition to offer a vegan menu, but from the greetings from the kitchen (one of which was a piece of beetroot in lemon juice, which was later on exactly featured in the main course, which to us seemed really uninspired) to the main course, most dishes were underseasoned and felt more like combined ingredients than well-rounded dishes. The scaling of the portions was off, the risotto (which tasted the best in our opinion, well-made) was so huge that the main course after it felt like an after-thought. The dessert was delicious though a bit huge after the amount of food previously served. The petit-fours were not good though, it was three little pieces of cake which again, felt uninspired and since they were served WITH dessert were way too heavy for an already unbalanced meal. Last point is, after we did not get any of the more expensive items like a bottle of wine the service started to also get more hasty and less attentive. It felt hasty before with the waitress coming up to our (at times empty) table but got less friendly over the course of the evening. The waiters themselves were friendly and pleasant anyways, but the general service lacked in the end. Very sorry to write this review we already communicated a few of the points to the manager who was nice and understanding, but all in all, we drove an extra hour from our hotel and were looking forward to an evening that was not up to any of our...
Read moreIt was disgusting! Starting from the service and ending with the food. I have been to many Michelin restaurants, but this was the first time I saw something like this. We waited for the menu to be brought for about 20 minutes, then Semillet said he was busy and came back 20 minutes later. We always had to wait a long time for waiters…..When ordering a dish, the description listed a set of products, but the result was a dish with spaghetti and fried pieces of only bread and that's it. When I told the waitress about this, she started picking at my (!) plate with my fork (!) and looked displeased (!) After that, no one came up to me and apologized or even offered anything in return... But after about half an hour they came to their senses and offered dessert or a bottle of wine. Perfect! They did not address me personally, but all the people at our table, trying not to look me in the eyes. If you claim to be a Michelin restaurant, then provide services accordingly. I give the...
Read moreUnfortunately we had an extremely negative experience at this restaurant. From the moment we walked in we felt invisible. By the time we had menus and a bread basket at our table we had been sitting there for over 45 minutes. The service seemed to be pointedly avoiding eye contact and too busy and we actually had to ask for the menus 20-30 minutes in. We were guests at the hotel and had a sleeping child in our room so we also didn't want to extend our evening indefinitely. They expected us to bring our child (high chair had been set up), but god knows how they had expected a toddler to be this patient without food for so long 🤣🤣. We ended up just ordering two courses and leaving because the whole experience took so long and didn't enjoy the complete lack of regard and service. Food was good but everything else was not. Absolutely not what I expect from a Michelin star restaurant. Apparently it was a busy evening, but then sorry - don't overbook your restaurant if you...
