Base Margherita — Restaurant in Ceglie Messapica

Arrived at 19:05 (5 mins after opening time) and was asked to leave and come back later. Came back and was seated in the restaurant which had no ambience or atmosphere. We got appetisers of ‘chicken sticks’ and arancini. I would advise you stay well away from the chicken sticks. They tasted so over-processed it almost ruined my appetite. Then came the pizzas. ‘The Gorgonzola’ was quite nice, and ‘The Lucifer’ was fine but was not spicy at all, and oddly enough, didn’t really taste of anything whatsoever… The dough was extremely wet, floppy, and thin, with the crusts mostly burned around the edges, with no softness. We had high hopes for this restaurant due to recommendations online and the reviews on Google - but it was simply not...

Neither bad, nor good...an average pizza in a pretty anonimous location close to the old town of Ceglie Messapica. It was not overcrowded, nonetheless the service was scarsely attentive. Despite the puzza of the day was warmly recommended on a blackboard and on the online menue, at 9 p.m. (italuan times for dinner are pretty different from Northern European ones) they lacked the ingredients to make it, and the waiter suggested a different combination that had nothing to do with the original showing that nobody had given him instructions on how to behave. At the rnd of the story, pizzas were good (and that's it) but the overall experience...

Una piccola perla nella città di ceglie . Abbiamo passato un'ottima serata gustando un tagliere di salumi e formaggi molto ricco e di qualità. Accompagnato da un cestino di pizza in sostituzione del pane ( scelta molto apprezzata perché dà già una anticipazione dell'ottimo impasto delle pizze). Il tagliere purtroppo è volato via e non ci sono reperti fotografici . Le pizze sono state ottime. Una gricia e una fume rivisitata . Impasto ben lievitato , pomodoro molto dolce e prosciutto crudo san daniele tagliato fresco e finemente. Tocco di classe l'affumicatura al tavolo della scamorza che lascia la possibilità di condire la pizza con quanto prosciutto si desideri , anche questo molto abbondante , personalmente l'ho diviso con il mio commensale . Sorpresa il conto , ben al di sotto di quanto ci aspettassimo. Il servizio inoltre è stato fulmineo nonostante fosse sabato sera . Uniche piccole pecche sono state un pezzo di pizza un po più bruciacchiato degli altri e la saletta interna piccolina , da riprovare ai tavoli esterni .
