I can't express in words how happy I am to be here, the source of all the happiness that Osteria di Casa Chianti gave me Today's table wine of choice is Biondi-Santi's BDM 2015, which is in excellent condition, excellent after an hour in the decanter, it doesn't smell particularly aromatic, but when drunk, it feels like being in the Violet Rose Estate, with earthy aromas after the rain, smooth tannins but very present, With some notes of advanced graphite and raw mushrooms from the forest, followed by a humidor with a hint of smoke, it couldn't be more satisfying, and perfectly matched with the black truffle, I was thoroughly absorbed The food is perfect for me tonight, the black truffle mix selection of organic thick-cut salami from 20 meters away from the restaurant, Pecorino from local DOC, polenta corn cake and local boar meat sauce, all just right, the salty level is very restrained but the umami is a high punch, Drizzled with plenty of local, organic extra virgin olives, I can't describe the delicacy, raw and raw, yet full of well-designed sophistication Roast steak, roast wild pigeon, roast pulled pork, roast wild red chicken are all slow-roasted with charcoal, and the ingredients are only sourced locally. The aroma of the charcoal fire and the taste of the meat itself is an indescribable shock. What shocked me more is their homemade wild berry honey sauce to match the roast pork and pickled Onions, which is a very rare food experience that makes my eyes light up But you can see how serious the shop is when you eat this gnocchi with Onions and artichokes. Gnocchi is airy, soft and earthy, like a light cheesecake with a salty potato flavor The owner, MAX, was the warmest and funniest person I met during my entire trip to Italy, showing me their proud "most beautiful toilet", showing me his wine cellar, and even taking me on a tour of the back kitchen in the middle of our conversation to greet the chef and "show off" their charcoal grills and roasts Everything I've done here has been so enjoyable, and this is one of my favorite restaurants in Italy, even though I've eaten a lot of expensive...
Read moreOsteria Di Casa Chianti: Where the Views Are Stunning, but the Lamb Is Burnt to a Crisp If you’re in Tuscany, you expect two things: a view that stops you in your tracks and a meal that makes the journey worthwhile. Osteria Di Casa Chianti offers the first in spades — rolling hills, endless vineyards, a postcard come to life. But sadly, the second is a different story altogether.
The staff, I must admit, are superb — attentive without being overbearing, charming without a hint of falsehood. They deserve a medal for managing to keep a smile on their faces while serving what can only be described as a culinary crime.
I ordered the lamb, hopeful that this rustic establishment would deliver something worthy of its picturesque surroundings. Instead, I was handed a piece of what could only be described as burnt leather, masquerading as a cut of meat. When I inquired about the disaster on my plate, I was told, “It’s cooked in a wood oven.” Ah, yes. Everything cooked in a wood oven is burnt, bland, and tastes like a farmer’s boot.
It’s a brilliant excuse, really, because it absolves the kitchen of any responsibility for such an atrocity. Everything that emerges from that infernal fire, it seems, is either charred beyond recognition or reduced to tasteless ash. The lamb, however, was the pièce de résistance — a tasteless, overcooked, leathery mess that could have doubled as a new form of footwear.
And the price? A staggering €105 for the privilege of eating what was, quite frankly, the worst meal I’ve had in Italy in the last 35 years. That’s right — thirty-five years of culinary exploration, and this place manages to top the list of disappointments.
So, if you fancy a view that will take your breath away but are prepared to be served a plate of burnt disappointment, Osteria Di Casa Chianti is your spot. Otherwise, save your euros, your taste buds, and your dignity — go somewhere that values good food over good scenery.

Read morea special evening. it started off really nice, a beautiful table at the front with a beautiful view, with the parking lot in front of it, but that wasn't so bad. We got the table without having reserved it. Normally you had to spend €60 per person, the owner told us. We had a nice bottle of wine with a small appetizer. The taste was very good! Compliments to the chef!
The evening took a different turn. We saw that many people stayed for a short time and ate quickly. This is not what we know from Italy. We asked the staff if there was a time slot. There was. You could choose 1.5 hours or 2 hours. We had seen this wrong and not read it ourselves.
The owner came by and said that he did not understand our question. "You chose this period yourself" no understanding. With 40 minutes to go, we quickly ate some pasta and drank the wine quickly. What struck us was that the owner completely ignored us after our conversation. No plates to take out, no service, no contact, nothing... Just before we finished, the owner suddenly came with the message that we could stay after all. I guess a reservation had fallen through. The atmosphere was set and the unfriendly facial expression of the owner made us feel that we were not welcome.
All in all, an evening that was not good. The owner touched us unpleasantly with physical contact when we entered and during dinner.
While paying, the man emphasized that we had only ordered a starter with an intermediate dish.
That's right! Because we had a delicious meal somewhere else for the rest of the evening!
Words fail me, but everything seems to indicate that this is a tourist attraction.
If you want to eat well, don't eat here but look somewhere else...
