We were a family of four and arrived late from a very long journey but our hosts very kindly kept the kitchen open for us and prepared a wonderful meal. The farm has lots of animals running freely - dogs, rabbits, chickens, boar and piglets so if you are a light sleeper, take some ear plugs with you! I am a very light sleeper but didn't have any trouble with the noise using my ear plugs. August was very hot, in the 30s and there is no air conditioning in the apartment but Gioacchino provided us with a tall electric fan. There are spectacular waterfalls on the property so do take a walk to them but be sure to follow the same route back as we got very lost and ended up almost 10kms away! Piera very kindly made the 35km round trip to come and rescue us when we couldnt find a taxi. We were very grateful to their offers of help. Gioacchino even drove us to the train station early in the morning when we took a day trip to Rome. Fantastic hospitality. The huge "relax" room has a large screen TV and we were able to watch (in English) some DVDs from their large supply when we were tired in the evening. We were showed where the main light switches were and felt as if we could indeed relax home away from home. Gioacchino's advice to visit the castle in Bracciano and the necropolis in Cerveteri turned out to be highlights of our trip. Go to the necropolis it is amazing. Food at the on site restaurant at the necropolis (we had pastas) was very good. If you want a rustic break in natural surroundings with excellent hosts and good food, this is a great place to visit. You have the option of meals and I was kindly given some wonderful spices by Gioacchino after I said I loved some meat he had cooked. Piera makes THE most divine chocolate cake I have ever tasted (and I've eaten a lot!) Thank you so much...
Read moreThis place may have a number of imperfections, but I would wholeheartedly recommend a visit.||It’s situated in the middle of a beautiful piece of Roman countryside with lots of good walking around. The entrance road isn’t in great condition, but we managed to drive it several times in a standard car with no real issues.||It is an agriturismo resort with lots of animals roaming free - you definitely feel closer to nature. The rustic style room we had was clean and comfortable with a great view.||The SPA room is just that (ie a large room with a jacuzzi bath, wardrobe sauna and good shower), so don’t expect a Champneys style resort. It’s a nice, peaceful and private room however with herbal teas etc and space to relax. If arranged in advance, you can get a good massage at reasonable price too.||That all said, the 2 most compelling reasons to go are: 1) the evening meals (made with local produce and recipes) that were just incredible, and 2) the warm hospitality of hosts Piera and Gioacchino. Despite our being non-natives and not speaking the language they made us feel completely welcome and patiently took the time to arrange what we needed and explain what we did not understand.||I’d recommend without...
