Ristorante Majore — Restaurant in Chiaramonte Gulfi

I can't tell you how long I've been waiting to get the chance to have a dinner in this place and you know what! It didn't disappoint me. The motto of this place is: "here we magnify the pig" or something really close to that. Unfortunately in this part of ​​Sicily, they cook so well that I was full before sitting down to dine. So I ordered just a mix of three different cuts of meat (beef and pork mainly) but I saw many different kind of main courses (pasta and risotto) served to the others customers, even more delicious. However, I ended my dinner with a delicious dessert, parfait with a crunchy chocolate layer and whole hazelnut. I suggest you to have your meal with one of their renowned local wine. October 15, 2023. We are retired from 20 years in the Italian restaurant business, rarely do we enjoy a meal out as much as we did in Ristorante Majore, a family run business for over 100 years. Delicious Sicilian dinner, excellent friendly & professional service, quality locale ingredient's, cozy ambience, open kitchen, over all very pleasant experience. Staff and Chef very accommodating to us, despite busy evening guests. We selected: cheeses and olives with grilled vegetables, house wine, followed by pasta/Bronte pistachio, Pasta/porcini mushrooms with truffle sauce, and 3 dessert! This beautiful restaurant is tucked up a little lane way, next to the main square of the gorgeous hilltop town of Chiaramonte Gulfi. It has a traditional and warm ambiance, with friendly and efficient service. The food is simply delicious. I had the pork sausage with a side of grilled eggplant and 'golden' chips, that were all excellent. The local red wine, Contessa Costanza, was fabulous and paired well with the pork.
