Trattoria da Momolo — Restaurant in Chioggia

Five stars for the food. Great seafood, fresh and authentic at a great location right by the fishing harbor. Young kid at the cashier has a real attitude and wants to be a big shot. I was waiting for 30 minutes just to make a reservation. He would take at least 10 Italian customers before me and only after I protested and asked if he has a problem with non-Italian customers did he get very agitated and called me stupid. At that point the owner came out of the kitchen and sent the kid away. Now finally, my reservation was taken. Not really clear what to make of this. Unfortunately this kid will hurt the business. We have been there many times, now we’re not sure if we will go back. With good food I like a relaxed atmosphere, not sure this will be...

We asked for a table for 5 persons in the evening but we were refused with the reason that all the tables are booked however half of them were empty. Obviously a lie! So I asked for reservation for another evening and supersingly we were refused with no reason again! I think the owner is terrible, probably does not like families with smaller children or strangers (or both). So try to avoid this restaurant if you don't want to be...

Negli anni 80 con la mia famiglia venivo “Da Momolo”, era spostato di pochi metri e aveva anche le camere per dormire. Passavano due settimane che con gli occhi di un bambino di 6/8 anni erano un sogno.

Dopo 37 anni decido di tornare a Sottomarina per respirare i ricordi.

Prenoto al telefono e vengo trattato come se non parlassi italiano, alla richiesta: “C’è disponibilità per stasera?” Mi viene risposto: “io non la capisco!”. Chiedo un tavolo per due alle 20.30, mi viene risposto “Alle 20, alle 20.10 diamo via il tavolo”.

Arriviamo e non veniamo considerati, dopo qualche minuto di attesa dico che ho una prenotazione e il cameriere dice: “Ah avete una prenotazione?!”… e va beh.

Vedo dei tavolini fuori, in quanto la veranda era chiusa e caldissima, chiedo: “è possibile avere un tavolo fuori visto che..”, il cameriere in tono maleducato ha risposto: “NO NO NO, IL TAVOLO È DENTRO”, ho provato a dire che c’erano dei tavoli fuori e mi ha risposto: “IL VOSTRO TAVOLO È DENTRO!”, quando a due persone senza prenotazione stava dando un tavolo fuori.

Ho salutato e me ne sono andato.

Mi tengo i miei ricordi d’infanzia e sconsiglio vivamente di andare in questo posto!
