Agriturismo Cà Leonilda — Restaurant in Cison di Valmarino

We are 4 classmates from year 1 in school, now turned 60 and were cycling in this part of Italy in Prosecco country. It was getting to lunchtime and we were aware that if we tried to find lunch during the siesta, we would starve. About 1130 in the morning after a rather arduous climb in the heat, we came down a hill and suddenly saw before us, this beautiful restaurant, the Casa Leonilda, in a lovely green field. The dining room had been laid out with a table for a largish gathering, facing an open field and lit by beautiful sunshine. We were warmly welcomed and even though it was early, the hostess (Diana?) and her chef (? Valentina) made a special effort to rustle up a delightful lunch for us. This was bread, salami, ham, a variety of vegetable dishes and marmalades, a coarse pâté and other delicacies that are local to the region and all manufactured on their farm. Most importantly, we had Prosecco that was also manufactured on the premises. It was spectacularly good, cold, rejuvenating and made the rest of our ride much easier than it might have been! I understand there's a field for caravans and motor homes too, with facilities. Cà Leonilda era un bel ricordo, eravamo stati diverse volte in passato, sempre mangiato bene. Abbiamo deciso di andare a mangiare là visto la ritrovata libertà. Avevamo deciso, con largo anticipo il menù: "Ho da pagar mi" dove era scritto (sia sul loro sito, sia all'interno del locale): Antipasto della Casa completo: affettato, sott'aceti, vari manicaretti... Crespelle e Gnocchi insaporiti da prodotti di stagione Sorbetto al limone Spiedo misto, acqua, vino, dolci misti e caffè Tutto compreso: eu. 25.oo I menu devono essere uguali per tutti. Il problema è che secondo la proprietaria il menù cambia di settimana in settimana, quindi non si può sapere cosa ti arriva, ed in effetti i bambini si aspettavano gli gnocchi (che la cameriera ci aveva assicurato esserci) ma non c'erano per noi , al loro posto un cucchiaio di riso nero con formaggio ed al posto delle crespelle (che ad altri sono state portate) una lasagna alle verdure, assolutamente insapore. Il sorbetto è stato perso per strada, e lo spiedo misto erano due pezzi (3 perchè poi sono passati a chiedere se si voleva un altro pezzo di carne) di carne. Diciamo che è stata una bella delusione, non che il cibo fosse cattivo, anzi lo spiedo era buono anche se molto poco (se eri sfortunato potevano arrivarti due pezzi molto piccoli), abbiamo anche provato a dire che il menù era completamente diverso ma la risposta è stata: 1) chiamare la cameriera per dirle parole per gli gnocchi che non c'erano (però potevano farceli a detta sua.. ma allora perchè non portarli visto che gli avevamo chiesti per i bambini?) 2)dirci che il menù non è mai fisso e che cambia... This place is a gem! We arrived at lunch time. A tour bus group was just finishing up. The host gave us a lovely table and offered some food suggestions, which we took. The antipasti were wonderful and the meal was fantastic. My wife had a couple glasses of wine per the recommendation of our host, while I abstained as I was driving.
