Crotto del Capraio — Restaurant in Civate

Amazing traditional food!!! Honestly the very best meal of my entire trip to Italy without a doubt. The three of us had the beef with wine sauce served and polenta and also the ‘black’ pasta in a creamy sauce which was called something like pizzoroa! Dessert was chocolate and hazelnut brownie-like tart, ricotta cheese cake and pears with chocolate tart.

Even though it was raining we sat outside under the wooden canopy with the beautiful mountain and a glimpse of the lake as our back drop - it was perfect.

The waiter/bar man was so very lovely!! I wished I had got his name to praise him personally. He was welcoming and friendly even though the restaurant was really busy he helped with local area knowledge for ‘must see’ suggestions.

If I ever return I will definitely...

We had a fantastic dinner here. Very friendly and warm owners and waiters who took the time to interact with us. Communication to make the reservation was flawless, complete with detailed description of where to park (a 200m walk is necessary to reach the restaurant). Food was high quality, honest fare. The cacio e pepe risotto was a warm hug. The owner was very knowledgeable and passionate about the products. Descriptions of wine and cheese were readily given. Pear ricotta cake was A+!! Sono stata a pranzo in questo crotto di recente e mi sono trovata molto bene per quanto riguarda la qualità delle pietanze servite! Ho mangiato un antipasto squisito con sciatt e due tipi di bresaola, i pizzoccheri (si deve per forza prenderne due porzioni) e una torta con ricotta e cioccolato. I pizzoccheri mi hanno veramente sorpreso: ultimamente ne ho provati diversi, tutti molto buoni, ma devo dire che questi li superano tutti per i miei gusti (morbidi, gustosi, con un sacco di formaggio filante e verdure al punto giusto, oltre che una porzione molto generosa). Anche il dolce mi è piaciuto. Avrei voluto poter assaggiare anche i secondi (c'erano degli arrosticini che mi ispiravano un sacco) ma ero piena 😅 Il conto trovo che sia stato corretto. L'unica nota un po' negativa è stato l'ambiente interno, molto molto caotico. Essendo abbastanza piccolo e pieno di persone, c'era parecchio rumore. In realtà il nostro tavolo era più appartato rispetto agli altri, ma il problema principale è stata la vicinanza al bar e alla cassa, dove si sono concentrate delle code di gente che praticamente finivano sul nostro tavolo. Questo è stato un po' fastidioso, anche perché molti sostavano li per bersi il caffè chiaccherando ad alta voce e ci hanno un po' disturbato. Penso sia risolvibile semplicemente facendo ordinare anche il caffè obbligatoriamente al tavolo (almeno quando c'è tanta gente) e portando anche il conto al tavolo. Ho voluto comunque dare 5 stelle perché alla fine per me quello che conta è la bontà del cibo e questo era praticamente perfetto!...
