Fresco — Restaurant in Cogoleto

We went to Fresco spontaneously for dinner, and didn’t have a reservation. The staff were super friendly and put two tables together immediately to make space for us. We don’t really speak Italian and sometimes it can be a bit challenging to communicate in English but they did amazing to make sure we were happy and taken care of. Our waiter was super nice, very helpful and knowledgeable and did everything to make our experience fantastic: He gave some suggestions for the wine selection, and clearly knew a lot about all the options. The food is definitely focused on seafood and fish selections and the vegetarian options were a bit limited, but aside from that, the food was fantastic. We had great Gillardeau oysters and a parmigiana to share, and the octopus ragú with Gnocchi which was absolutely delicious! Arredamento 7- Situato nel bel centro storico di Cogoleto, il ristorante non ha tantissimi posti a disposizione (tranne che in estate quando è a disposizione anche la piazzetta esterna) ma è pregevolmente arredato con i colori tipici del mare. Mise en place curata, peccato solo per i sottobicchieri scheggiati; in generale locale pulito.

Menù 8 Il menù propone principalmente piatti a base di pesce fresco della tradizione ligure leggermente "rivisitati". Quantità nel piatto molto equilibrata, presentazione buona, anche se niente di eccezionale . Piatto consigliato le tagliatelle al "Cantabrico" serviti su bisque di gamberi e in aggiunta gamberi tritati. Da leccarsi i baffi! Carta dolci della casa ben fornita, e come era lecito aspettarsi... Tutti e due buonissimi, soprattutto la mousse ai tre cioccolati è da prendere assolutamente!! I dolci vengono preparati per loro da una pasticceria. Sono proposti su un piatto di ardesia, dove ne viene posizionato uno per tipo per permettere ai clienti di scegliere basandosi anche sulla vista, oltre che sulla descrizione.

Conto 8 Per l'elaborazione dei piatti e per le materie prima di alta qualità il prezzo e più che giustificato.

Qualità prezzo 8 Piatti ottimi e gustosi, l' ambiente molto tranquillo e piacevole insieme al conto onesto sono i loro punti di forza, l'unico piccolissimo difetto è stato quello di non trovare il sacrosanto fritto misto di pesce all'interno del menu. Secondo noi deve essere obbligatorio in ogni ristorante di pesce. Locale molto consigliato se volete provare una cucina di pesce che vada leggermente al di fuori dei soliti canoni della cucina ligure. Nota di gran merito è quello di cenare, solamente nel periodo estivo, nella suggestiva piazzetta al di fuori del locale all'interno del centro storico...

Not Recommended – Good Food, The worst service I have ever come across!

The food was actually quite good, but the service was shockingly bad. Our waitress was extremely arrogant from the start. Once she realized we didn’t speak Italian, she began insulting us in Italian every time she came by, while staring us down in a very unsettling way.

She threw the bread away in front of us and practically slammed the plate on the table instead of serving it. I’ve never experienced such bizarre and disrespectful behavior in any restaurant. Absolutely not...
