We were driving around the lake district in Northern Italy just looking for a place where to spend the night. A random search on the internet for an agriturismo in the region yielded the result of Al Rocol. All we needed to be convinced was the magic word "franciacorta". Driving there after 8pm, tired and hungry and with no place to sleep, we were treated to a very warm welcome, a four-course dinner featuring local cooking (and naturally wines to match!) at a more than reasonable cost and as luck would have it, the very last room that hadn't been booked that night. The restaurant featured very professional and friendly staff who took the time to deal with us, although there were three very large groups there at the same time. Eventually we were shown to our room, which completely blew our minds away - a beautiful semi-detached apartment with all the perks and direct access to the swimming pool (nothing beats a midnight swim with +30C outside at midnight and a full moon above...) This was my first trip to Italy and staying at Al Rocol became a symbol of everything I hold dear about Italy in my memory. Amazing food, fantastic wines and very...
Read moreThanks to one of the owners of this lovely agritourismo near Brescia, I got the awesome opportunity to visit them in April 2024. Chiara gave me an excellent tour of Al Rocol’s wine cellars and gave me an educational insight into the making of Franciacorta sparkling wines. What a labour of love this tasty product is! After the tour, I got to taste their wonderful wines along with a sumptuous plate of delicacies. The homemade bread, the refreshingly smooth olive oil, the dessert, the cheese … everything was top-notch. Francesca, the owner, made sure that everything I was served was vegetarian as per my dietary preference. What an excellent place operated by equally good people! The wines I bought from their vinothek were a great value and even greater taste.
I wish I had stayed longer, rented a room in their lodgings and enjoyed their hospitality over a few days. Next time I am in the region, I hope to be...
Read moreOn a half day excursion from Iseo, we visited Al Rocol winery. On arrival we were met by a member of staff, Francesca, and taken into the winery. She gave us a short resume on how the different types of wine were produced. All very informative. We were then taken into the storage area, where she explained how long the different wines took to mature. After the tour finished, we were invited to taste several of the wines. They were all excellent. These were accompanied by different Italian savouries. As usual we were taken into the shop where you could purchase wine, or order it to be sent to your home. We reckon this was one of the best winery tours we have done & value for money. We were accompanied by Ruth, our Inghams rep in Iseo.||We didn't stay, so cannot comment about the meals or...
