I don't like to put terrible when we actually didn't stay at the hotel - but if the service is so bad that you can't actually GET to the hotel.... well, that doesn't say much for them. ||||We were booked to stay here, but when we got to Sulzano, the departure point for the ferry to get to Monte Isola, there was no where to park.||We were not familiar with the area and though we knew we had to park the car and leave it on the mainland overnight, the hotel didn't bother to tell us we had to book a parking spot.||||On our arrival in town all the lots were full. We drove around for an hour looking for an option. I called the hotel and their suggestion was to tell the lot managers that we were guests at the hotel. How could that help if there are no spots!||But we tried.||No luck.||||When I called the hotel back to say we weren't coming - they said that in a couple of hours there would surely be parking. What were we supposed to do? Drive around for another couple of hours? They were totally unconcerned that we had already wasted a huge chunk of time. Thety didn't even offer an apology for their oversight.||||I can't believe that they didn't tell us we had to book for parking. ||They lost business. We won't bother...

We both stayed & ate here, and had a fantastic time doing so 😊

🛏 Rooms: Very clean but basic - except you can't argue as the value for money is excellent! The bathroom was newly refurbished which is the most important facility in a room anyway. We had a balcony sat above the lake with the most beautiful view... You have to see it to believe it!

🍴 Restaurant: The food was really excellent and the service was exemplary. Fresh fish from the lake at a good price with another beautiful view and stunning wine choices from the resident sommelier 🤓. The surroundings are well kept and it's obvious the family put a lot of work into this place. .... Our only tiny tiny suggestion is perhaps to change up the tiramisu. Sure, it was home made, but so much cream and the biscuit base was hard and crunchy... Not to our taste. Sorry chef! 😢

🚲 In addition, we also hired the eBikes from the place at €25 each for half a day. I don't think I'll ever use a normal bike again - these things made cycling around the island a pleasure!

If we ever revisit Monte Isola we would not hesitate to come and stay here again. Thank you to the owners for making our stay so wonderful - you're great at...

The location was great and view from the balcony out onto the lake was beautiful. The staff was very helpful in sorting out the ferry schedule for us to travel around the lake and printed out stuff for me on two occasions with no delay. The fish from the restaurant was cooked to perfection and when served almost all the bones were cleaned out. They also had an excellent selection of grappa to try after eating. The breakfast was limited to fruit, yoghurt, and bread. I don't like this but that may be the American in me complaining. The wifi was free but reception in my room was...
