Osteria dai Coghi — Restaurant in Costermano sul Garda

From the responses the owner gives to bad google reviews, it seems he cares about his place. I respect that. If he does care about his cuisine he should practice his manners more. After sitting down and finding out it’s not possible to order a la carte and a tasting menu at the same table - not even different dishes within the same menu, we decided to leave. The owner asked “did you read the menu outside?”. Such a limitation was not mentioned in the menu. Then said “next time read the menu..”. The owner can save the etiquette lessons. I’ve been to my fair share of fine dining restaurants and rarely heard of this limitation let alone when the restaurant is empty. An advice for the owner - I’m convinced the cuisine is worth the while, but maybe let someone else talk to customers, you are clearly not...

Interesting and original food twisted from Italy’s most known dishes. The chef & waitress were really nice.

However the waitress did not understand nor speak English very well. It caused a lot of drama on the table next to us. The dutch tourists were a little too entitled and the lack of understanding between the waitress & them caused awkward moments. It almost ruined our night as we could only focus on the fit they threw. I guess in a Michelin recommended restaurant you’d expect a little bit more fluency in order to describe best the food & beverages, as well as to guide best the customer.

I was very happy with the tasting menu at Osteria dai Coghi. We visited after a trip to Modena (visiting another renowned establishment where we were underwhelmed). Osteria dai Coghi had a well curated menu that was incredibly balanced and tasty. I was impressed with the simplicity of the ingredients and how dynamic they were in different dishes, e.g. peas used in multiple courses, mushrooms used in the dessert, fresh vegetables executed perfectly, etc. Overall, I highly recommend if you're looking for a restaurant that I can see getting a...
