Absolutely fantastic - must go again. We stopped at L'Ancora Pinsa e Hamburger because it was just up the hill from the beach and had great reviews, and I'm so glad we did. This place isn't just good; it's honestly the best pizza I've ever had.
The food was incredible, starting with an appetizer called Patate Cortesi. They're basically tender potatoes layered with melty mozzarella, fontina cheese, and ham. They were so good I thought they would be the highlight of the meal—and then the pizza came out.
We ordered three: the Mortaza, the Mediterranea, and a classic Margherita. My mind was blown. The crust was absolutely perfect—not too thick, not too thin, with a little crunch in the first bites that surprised me. The flavor was unreal. Every topping, from the mortadella and pistachio on my Mortaza to the ham and olives on my husband's Mediterranea, was fresh and delicious. And oh those onions on the Mediterranea are to die for delicious. Our daughter loved her Margherita pizza.
Our waiter was great, too. He was friendly and attentive and helped us pick the Mortaza and Mediterranea, which he said were his favorites. He was right on both counts.
The atmosphere was perfect. We sat outside under a covered, open-air tent, and the views were incredible. On one side, we could see the beautiful Santuario di Maria Santissima di Custonaci church. On the other, we had a panoramic view of the land below the town and the bay. The location also makes it perfect for a lovely stroll after your meal.
Even though we were stuffed, we still made room for the Tiramisù della casa. It was a perfect, yummy end to a perfect meal.
Before we left, I had to go inside and thank the chef. She was so kind and had this sparkle in her eyes when she talked about her food.
L'Ancora is a truly special place. The food is out of this world, the service is top-notch, and you can just feel the passion they have for what they do. If you're in Sicily, you have to go. You...
Read moreA very friendly casual place. We booked, and sat outside. Lovely "belvedere" at the end of the road. When we booked they had told us there was no parking in the restaurant's road, so we'd prepared a few streets away and walked the last bit. We were Mum Dad two boys and grandma. The people were very friendly and welcoming. We had two plates of affettato and cheese before our pizzas. The children and grandma ate almost all their pizzas so we took the rest home for lunch tomorrow. We had a variety of pizzas. Plenty of choice. There were interesting alternatives too but we were happy with pizza tonight. It was quite busy, but nobody rushed us. It was another very pleasant evening. We all enjoyed it. Thank you Alla...
