We heard a lot from this place and everyone is recommending it, but it did not really match our expectations. You sit on plastic chairs with very bad instabil tables. There were about 60 people at the terrace and the staff was not even smiling once. It seems the boss does all alone himself! We were waiting more then one hour to get served Cozze as a starter. Then we were waiting another 35 Minutes for the main course. It was Spagetti and a fish. It took us nearly 3 hours until we paid. We would have loved a desert or a cafe or something, but to be honest, we didn’t want to wait anymore. The spaghetti was very good, but the rest was just average. Cozze was boring! The fish was way too little, so I left this place and I was still hungry! The best on this restaurant is the geographical position. In my opinion it’s not really worth to go there to eat. I was there in July. It was a really bad experience. It is basically a tourist trap. Most of the people are not Italians and as Italian I am disappointed with the Italians who actually came there. The staff was not polite at all (almost confrontational). The food was awful. They served us an antipasto di pesce which included smoked salmon from the supermarket (given that salmon is not from the mediterrean sea or from the area in general, either sea or lakes or rivers!). Wir hatten uns auf das Restaurant gefreut um guten Fisch und Pasta zu essen. Da es in Duino nicht viele Restaurants gibt, haben wir für drei Abende reserviert. Die Leute waren auch sehr freundlich und so gingen wir am ersten Abend essen. Ein schöner Tisch mit Blick auf die Adria. Aber, dass war es dann mit der Freude. Bier aus der Dose für 6,5€. Die Vorspeise Miesmuscheln war zwar groß aber es fehlte wirklich der Geschmack. Meine Frau hatte dann Gnocchi mit Garnelen. Ganze 4 Garnelen waren auf dem Teller. Geschmacklich aber gut. Ich hatte Pasta mit Venusmuscheln, leider ohne Geschmack. Schade, so sind wir nicht noch mal hingegangen. Dass ist für uns Abzocke. Es lief auch ein Mann mit Kind auf der Terrasse rum, nur in Badehosen waren beide bekleidet. Sorry so etwas geht auch nicht. Dass dahinter liegende Restaurant gehört dem selben Besitzer. Wir haben es nicht getestet, sondern uns am zweiten Abend in der kleinen Pizzeria neben dem kleinen Einkaufsladen frische Pizza geholt. Die war lecker und wir haben viel Geld gespart. Der große Supermarkt bietet auch ein reichliches Angebot an Essen an, so dass man dort auch günstig einkaufen kann und sich sein Abendessen selbst macht. Trotzdem danken wir für den Abend und würden uns über Veränderungen freuen, wenn wir wieder nach Duino kommen.

Wenn da steht „Bier 3,50 €“, dann habt ihr uns betrogen. Leider haben wir keine Getränkekarte bekommen.
