Trattoria L'antico forno — Restaurant in Impruneta

Intimate family owned restaurant with homemade Tuscan food. We had experienced authentic food here, much better quality than a lot of other places with fuss, and the personal touch of the owners is the cherry on top. They are open more hours than most places in the area, they also have menus in English and quality Prosecco.

What we ordered: the bruschetta pomodoro was very flavorful the radicchio trevisano was fantastic and a novelty for us (grilled vegetable which seems to be a mix between a radicchio and a bok choi maybe), seasoned with olive oil, garlic, lemon, and parsley the burrata with prosciutto & radicchio was a total delight from the mixed meat platter for 2 I loved the chicken breast and the pork which were extremely tender, moist and perfectly grilled. My husband loves sausages and he was very happy with these hearty ones their homemade French fries and fried artichokes were fresh and crispy the cheesecake was godly the pana cota had that homemade quality as well This...

Came here because of the good reviews but don't really understand them now. The place didn't look inviting from the outside but we still decided to trust the ratings. On stepping inside the whole atmosphere was rather bleak, with only 2 other guests in a dimly lit room. The food was not terrible but quite below average by local standards, the prices a bit above average. Ordered the tagliata, which was already cold when it arrived 10 minutes before the other main courses. The rest really was nothing special either.

Bottom line: you're probably better off just following your gut feeling and going for the charming restaurant you just happen to drive by when...

While out of the way, the dinner we had here was one of the best we had while in Italy for 21 days.

My husband had the chicken with lemon and red pepper and I enjoyed the fried rabbit. Exceptional. Great house wine.

The best part of the meal was the fabulous absolutely perfect panna cotta. It was perfect in texture, light and rich at the same time. Garnished with crushed pistachios.

We highly recommend this restaurant which is in a very quiet location 7 minutes...
