Ristorante da Santi — Restaurant in Isola del Giglio

We wanted to go to the restaurant on a rainy afternoon to have something to drink – a bottle of wine, relax together, enjoy Giglio. So we went in, two tables were occupied, the rest was empty. We asked if we could just have a drink. No, only drinks were not possible. They said it’s a restaurant, not a bar, and we had to order food. We explained that we would like to drink something – isn’t it normal to be allowed to just have a drink in a restaurant? But she said no, that’s not allowed. So we had to leave, because we didn’t want to order food.

I find that a pity, because we would have happily ordered a bottle of wine, and maybe later even some snacks. You never know if you’ll get hungry afterwards. We’re the type who like to sit for a while, ordering bit by bit. To me it makes no sense at all to turn guests away like that. Maybe it was also because we were speaking English, tourists, and she just didn’t feel like dealing...

Esperienza positiva con alcuni aspetti da migliorare sicuramente. Gli antipasti erano buoni, cosi come i primi piatti. Tavola ben apparecchiata. Certamente per un locale dove l'apparenza sembra giocare una parte importante il servizio e l'intera organizzazione della sala lascia molto a desiderare. È un peccato vedere la numerazione dei tavoli assegnata da orrendi numerini attaccati nei posti più disparati per numerare il tavolo, quando basterebbe assegnare una numerazione che segua una logica ( Tipo a serpente ). Stesso discorso vale per quando si portano I piatti a tavola. Prima di tutto dovrebbero essere serviti tutti insieme e non in momenti diversi, secondo è veramente triste vedere ancora personale di sala chiedere di chi è questo o quel piatto. Anche qui basterebbe assegnare una posizione per ogni cliente e mettere quel numero accanto al piatto scelto da quella persona. Durante il servizio nessuno a chiesto come la cena stava procedento e tantomeno quando abbiamo chiesto IL conto. IL personale di sala inesperto, dove anche IL semplice sparecchiare o apparecchiare è un impresa ardua da superare. Riguardo Al cibo I tagliolini Al tonno, limine e carciofi erano molto salati e impiattati malissimo ( in un piatto c'era molta più pasta e condimento che nell'altro. Prezzi adeguati agli Altri ristoranti dell'isola ( forse anche più bassi ). Carta dei vini sufficiente. Ci sarebbe molto altro da dire ma mi fermo qui. La proprietà dovrebbe decidere se considerarsi un ristorante oppure una trattoria e adeguarsi di conseguenza. Detto ciò non avrei problemi a...

We loved this restaurant! The magnificent views from the terrace down to Campese, and back to the Castello. We had lunch here one day, and declared we must come back for dinner. The prices I have selected are for dinner. Lunch would be €10 less per person depending on your choices. There wasn't a dish we could fault.
