The food looked amazing, never got to try it though. My wife and I arrived at a busy time in the afternoon. The host said the wait would be 30-40 minutes or if we wanted to be seated on the patio by the door we could sit now. We were sat at our table for about 10 mins when a nice young waitress told us someone English speaking will help us soon. I said we understand, you seem very busy! Another 10 minutes go by and the host comes over and apologizes saying someone will be right with us. Another 10 minutes goes by and I ask one of the waiters to see a menu, he says it's a spoken menu and someone English speaking will come explain. The host eventually asks one of the waiters to come serve us to which he does in another 10 minutes. We order drinks and I ask for the menu. He says it is a spoken menu and he'll bring us a complimentary sample board for now, and quickly walks away. We sit with our drinks and sample board for about 30 mins while we watched the waiters try their best not to look at us. I eventually asked for the check which was brought immediately. I did notice many other Italian speaking tables being served much faster, even being seater after us and finishing their food before we were given the chance to order. It felt as if we were placed in a corner and ignored because we were English speaking. Overall, this place seemed prejudice and snobby.
P.s. a friend of the wait staff when leaving thru the water from her dog bowl in the bushes beside me and got my bag wet lol. I was slightly amused by how rude this...
Read moreI had recommended this place to some of our b&b guests after going there once .. fortunately none of them went because of the distance from the center of Como. We like to try places several times just to see how the staff behaves during different situations (Saturday, Sunday or during the week). After trying it for three times I do Not recommend this place for anything . Unfortunately it is known because some VIPs (only one in my opinion, and many years ago) frequented it when there was still daddy as owner. Currently, you will wait a lot to sit and eat ( but that is okay they don’t take reservations). You will see people coming after you sit and eat while you are still waiting for drinks because you came from the beach or you are a tourist or you don’t have a designer bag on you (there’s no reason, it’s totally random). The most bad thing was the waiter who ,when asked for a change of table (half restaurant was empty and they had not yet prepared our table for us so I can’t see the problem), looked at us with a serial killer eyes and the son told us that my mother , literally, as "over 30" , preferred to stay inside 😂 . He basically suggested to us that since we had an “old person” ( 60 years old ) it was better not to change table. Place to avoid. In Como there are many wonderful places to eat well, more honest prices more important thing MORE POLITE STAFF. Unfortunately I don’t have the receipt because the same guys did not give it to me. 78€ for...
Read moreThis is a small butcher & cafe that serves small plates and cocktails, beer and wine - primarily outdoor seating with a great view of the lake and they even have a little ice cream cart in front. The vibe is very casual, there were couples, small groups and even a family having lunch here when we visited. My husband and I stopped here for a light lunch on a weekday in August (high tourist season) and the restaurant was very busy.
No reservations here - customer service was excellent and they simply texted us when our table was ready, with an accurate wait time estimate. We waited 25 minutes for a table outside on the patio beneath the glass structure.
The menu rotates daily and is very short, primarily meat oriented dishes (no seafood offered the day we visited) with small plates such as roast chicken, pork ribs, green salad, burrata and tomato. The best part about this place (for Americans) is that they provided a FREE cheese and charcuterie board when we ordered two alcoholic beverages (we got one glass of wine and one beer)! They even brought me more cheese and bread when I ordered a second glass of wine. The Chardonnay was local and excellent, perfectly chilled. The cheese was fresh and the bread to cheese/meat ratio was good. My husband loved his roast chicken and green salad, all of it was really fresh and well seasoned. We would definitely...
