We were Looking for a Nice Sushi place in Lecco to dine in. We found the shabi and pictures looked nice. We arrived there at 6:15pm. the door was closed even though it said its open at 6 in google. After waiting 5min outside even though the personal saw us, they opened the door from inside without even bothering opening the door for us after we were forced to wait. we took a seat at the bar in the front area as they told us they dont have yet opened the kitchen and the not much friendly guy behind the bar was asking what we wanted to drink. They told us we had to wait another 20min. which then was 6:40pm... After we had finished the drink they said it takes another 20min cause they only open at 7pm. which according to opening times in google is not correct. Anyhow they then offerend us a small table in one of the side rooms which was a noticeably colder room then the main room. Tables all very close togehter and no privacy at all. Looked like they tried to squeeze the last place in there for the most turnover possible. Atmospehere 6 like that.. anyhow we ordered the food and that was more or less thrown onto the table in random order after 5min - the soup which we expected to arrive first came 20min later. the staff is not friendly at all and service very poor. the took plates away in the midst of eating. empty and half empty ones. the food itself was ok but really not very special at all. i had the Ceviche and Tuna Tartare and also the Soup. The Ceviche was good but the fish pieces too big and not very much aside from the fish. the taste was therefor rather flat. same goes for the Tartare. only the raw tuna. nothing else just soy sauce. no avocados nothing. But not that that was it. As we payed in front the same guy from behind the bar was giving us the invoice. i was really extremly irritated that the invoice was 120 euro for what we had eaten. And i think i didnt hide this. He kept on collecting the money and we took the bill. After we went outside we checked the bill and we found a 59euro bill for Sushi which we didnt have. We went back in and before we had even really expressed what the problem was the guy had already opend the cash register and payed us 60 euro back. much to our surprise that went extremely fast. A day later i had some stomache problems too and i spent quiet some time on the loo.. So all in all really my first and last time...
Read moreThis is kind of a long term review, as I’ve been eating at Shabu at least weekly for the past couple of months and I plan to continuing so.
The food and service are consistently great, and the prices are really good!
They have two formulas: one close to the classic all you can eat called “open sushi”, and another called “light lunch” - that’s what I usually get during work week and it consists of three dishes to choose from the open sushi menu (except for regular sized pokes). Some menu items have an additional charge of a few euros and still might be worth it if you wish for something more particular, but their menu has a great variety also with just the “free” items and I almost always pick those. All u can eat is 29€ (drinks excluded, and it might be cheaper for lunch but can’t remember right now), light lunch is 11€ (again drinks excluded, and only available on weekdays), and they’re both worth it.
Some particularities: Open sushi has actually 3 orders of 4 dishes per order, with some exemptions like certain dishes only available for order once per person. They pour soy sauce on request, you don’t have the usual sauce bottle at the table. Was weird at first, but now I actually prefer this - just remember you can always ask for more. They have a website with the menu that lets you easily compose your order (which you still have to communicate to the waiter). The service is usually very fast and that’s important for me because I can make it during my lunch break: I now tend to choose the dishes from the menu on my way to the restaurant, so that I order as soon as I get there. The staff is very efficient and quick, and tries to make sure everything is going great.
I highly suggest this restaurant, you’d probably need to get back multiple times to try more than what you can get in a...
Read moreExquisite Japanese restaurant!!! While visiting Italy, the Italian food first comes to mind… well think again. Shabu Lecco - Japanese Fusion Restaurant is the place to experience the best sushi and cocktails in Lecco and the neighborhood. First, let me start with those cocktails --- Andrea gave us a unique experience with the drinks. The care and effort, and quality of the ingredients used to make them definitely elevated the flavor to another level. Have you ever tried a cucumber wasabi martini with your sushi??? Well, it was AWESOME!!! The food was beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. One of the freshest and tastiest raw fish I’ve ever had. Everything exceeded our expectations. Make sure to stop by and enjoy their food, drinks and an impeccable service! I’ve visited twice already and would highly recommend Shabu Lecco...
