Magnificent. No other words to describe the quality of the home-cooked, yet refined food and the attentive and warm service. This is no ordinary restaurant, but one made up of several cooks spread across the island of Salina, each preparing their speciality and with Rosanna, acting as the curator of this museum of vibrant local specialities. I recommend that you simply try everything on the ever-changing menu! The wines are predominantly local, and superb. Dulcis in fundo, and what this locale is also famous for, are its gelati and granite - the ricotta granita with salted-capers prepared in Malvasia wine, is truly world-class. The hospitality of Rosanna and her team deserve a second mention, applausi! An exceptional little restaurant, with its unique views of the Eolian islands, and also Mount Etna across the sea in the distance. An absolute must-go.
Posto unico. Panorama spettacolare. Un ristorante con decine di cuoche sparsi per l’isola di Salina che preparano le loro specialità e selezionate con cura da Rosanna. Una carta interessante, tradizionale, ma raffinata. Vini locali super. Servizio al top. Poco altro da dire, andate, e mangiate tutto...
Read moreWe have just come back from a trip to Alicudi and as the weather was still gorgeous we went for a swim to Rinella beach 🏖 just next to the port ⚓ After sunset we planned to take our Vespa 🛵 and drive back to Malfa. Pa. Pe. Ro' looked so inviting to us that we have spontaneously decided to have the Aperitivo on their beautiful terrace. We have order two different recommend cocktails 🍹one with basil and one with rosemary. Both were refreshing, with the taste of the herb 🌿. Very delicious 😋 However, when we were sitting there I saw all those good looking granite pass by. They looked so tempting that I couldn't resist to order one as well. What a great decision. The granite of ricotta was topped with caramelised capers... Oh man, that was such a good granita. The mix of sweet with the cheese taste... Fabulous! I can recommend the place for its nice terrace, great cocktails, delicious granita and...
Read moreWe rented a car to island crawl and found ourselves in Rinella around lunchtime. Being May and midweek there wasn’t a whole lot open but we saw some people in Pa.PeRo just up from the wharf and took a chance.
We sat in the patio area, looked at the menu and had ordered when I decided to have a look inside the bar and found that there were about 20 dishes that don’t make the menu and they all looked great. We quickly changed our order by choosing a few different dishes and emphasing “piccolo misto”.
So glad we did. Delicious food made by Mamma. Wild fennel and peppers. Calamari ripieni, chicory with tomatoes, etc etc. Exactly the sort of food we had been missing.
They also make their own gelato but we were too full to fit it in.
Lovely spot, lovely food and lovely people. Cost was a touch under €50 and worth...
