TOURIST MONEY KEEPS COMING? I am not sure how to rate, I tend to be fair even that I am still a bit upset. (2 weeks later). This place has a lot of potential! But hers what made me not that happy:
Its shiny, its fancy and very well decorated. Music is too loud, chatting gets a bit difficult. Location is super nice and YES stuff is friendly and professional BUT with that a bit too much of a selling attitude:
3 times the waiter "offered" us to choose the TASTING MENU for 2. We took it then. It was GOOD, sure! but there was a technical mistake: you can't offer FISH if there is SEAFOOD in it, it needs to be named. can go very wrong on allergies.
Fries were very lame. McD**ds does it better.
At the end of the evening, we got suggested that we have 2 shots. But the way it was "suggested" we thought (as basically usual in Italian culture and trust me, we do know a lot about that ;) - its on the house, a nice gesture for still spending 110€
it was not. And the tasting menu was more expensive than most main courses. and, may happen, the potatoes have been charged twice. it was a mistake ok, but shouldn't on this level. and we did see it later, ok what ever.
We had to ask three times for the check, even that the waiter was around other tables. also not very fine. Selling was quick, upselling was quicker, paying had to be forced.
However, CONCLUSION is that the food is good, the staff is nice but the bitter taste of "stupid tourist money is endless" is lasting till today. I am not sure if the place would be acting in the same way if it was depending on LOCALS.
And before you ask: We eat at expensive places often, its not about the money, its about the treatment...
Read moreThe food was good, expensive for what it is, but OK. The steak was nice enough, but a bit small- sides a bit cold and potatoes under cooked. However- the waiter tried to upsell to us and despite saying no to the starters, one appeared. Maybe we weren't clear enough. It was a delicious plate of 5 tiny meatballs and cost €18. To be fair, we should have refused it.
The water comes in a pre opened/reusable glass bottle so assuming it is tap water that they refill themselves- this is €6, the most we have paid in the area and it wasn't even bottled!
When we wanted to pay there was apparently a problem with the card reader- they very much wanted us to pay in cash. Maybe there was a problem! There is an ATM nearby that they encouraged us to use and costs a fortune- when we refused they were able to find a working card reader........
There is the offer of a shot....... usually when offered this at a restaurant it is on the house, a small token for your custom. Be prepared- this will cost you €5!!
All of this took the experience from a possible 4 or even 5☆ to 2☆, being generous.
To be clear, the food itself was good, albeit over priced, however the service really made the evening feel uncomfortable and regretful- to us it felt like a tourist trap (we spent 3-4x more there in one evening than we have elsewhere on other evenings). We sadly feel that we wasted a lot...
Read moreEsperienza a dir poco vergognosa al MaMa Steakhouse di Letojanni, un locale che si spaccia per steakhouse di lusso ma che in realtà è solo un furto legalizzato ai danni dei clienti.
Appena arrivati, si nota subito una totale mancanza di professionalità: camerieri vestiti in modo disomogeneo, senza uniformi né stile coerente. Il menù nasconde i prezzi della carne frollata, comunicati solo a voce da un presunto manager che sparisce non appena sorgono problemi.
Il servizio è stato un disastro completo: • Drink serviti senza vassoio, con cocktail rovesciati sul tavolo; • Acqua naturale dimenticata e portata solo dopo insistenza, mentre arrivava solo quella frizzante; • Sale, pepe e olio serviti con grande ritardo, come se condire fosse un optional; • Camerieri confusionari che cambiavano piatti più volte, dimostrando totale incompetenza e disorganizzazione; • Dopo aver finito l’antipasto, abbiamo aspettato quasi un’ora per i secondi; • Una cameriera ha quasi sparecchiato il tavolo mentre aspettavamo il secondo, dimostrando che tra il personale non c’è comunicazione né organizzazione; • Alla fine della cena, un cameriere ha chiesto come era andata e abbiamo spiegato il malcontento, ma nessun manager si è fatto vedere per ascoltare o risolvere la situazione.
L’unico piatto decente è stato l’antipasto di tartare, il resto è stato un incubo.
La carne? Una presa in giro totale. • Wagyu da 300 €/kg servito su una griglia rovente da cuocere da soli, con un pezzo enorme di grasso immangiabile incluso nella porzione, pagato come carne pregiata; • Tagliate ordinate come cottura media risultavano praticamente crude e con un sapore amaro di griglia sporca, tanto da dover essere riportate indietro; • La seconda versione dei piatti rimandati era ancora immangiabile, con sapore amaro e segni evidenti di cattiva gestione della griglia; • Una porzione da 800 grammi, presentata come taglio di alta qualità, risultava bruciata all’esterno e cruda all’interno, con un sapore sgradevole e di qualità imbarazzante.
Nessuno si è degnato di tornare al tavolo per chiedere come fosse andata la cena o per scusarsi; il presunto manager spariva sistematicamente ogni volta che emergevano problemi.
E il conto? 277 €, scontato a 260 €, presentato su un documento non fiscale con scritto “ritirare il fiscale alla cassa”, cosa che lascia dubbi su possibili pratiche scorrette.
In definitiva, un locale che punta solo a spennare i clienti con prezzi da lusso, senza offrire nulla in cambio se non servizio scadente, disorganizzazione, cucina pessima e totale mancanza di rispetto verso chi sceglie di cenare lì.
