The experience we had at the winery was more than disappointing. The beginning of the misery was the approach route - not only was it extremely poorly signposted, but the roads were also in a catastrophic condition. One would think that a winery that has received so many outstanding reviews would be easier to reach.
What disappointed us the most, however, was the quality of the wine. Compared to other Sicilian wines that we have enjoyed, this one simply was not up to par. It is baffling to us how such a winery could receive so many positive ratings.
In addition, the prices were completely disproportionate. A small plate with a few canned items cost us a fortune. There definitely was a lack of proportionality between price and quality here.
However, it is worth highlighting the modern and beautiful house. This provides a pleasant contrast to the disappointment that the rest of the winery represents. The outdoor area, on the other hand, would have great potential if it were better designed. It seemed as if it did not receive the attention it deserved.
This winery did not meet our expectations and we unfortunately cannot recommend it. There are definitely better options in Sicily that can convince in terms of both quality and...
Read moreMy wife and I enjoyed a lunch and wine tasting experience in their revamped palmento. The food was fabulous and the wine was very enjoyable. I would certainly come back here for a meal and more wine. The staff was kind and professional.
My only criticism is that it did feel quite popular with large tour groups. I admit my hypocrisy, as we were two Americans who visited here by booking through a local guide (who was not with us at this lunch), however it was a little disappointing to be surrounded by large hordes of fanny pack-clad english-speakers who arrived in vans. This of course is of no fault of the establishment, but it did feel like the most touristy venue in a week of tastings across Sicily and other parts of...
Read moreThe view of Mount Etna from this winery is absolutely stunning, and the tasting room itself is beautiful. The staff are very friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. That said, the tour felt quite long. I had really hoped to just do a tasting, but was told the tour was required. Since it was midday and very hot, it wasn’t the most enjoyable experience without the right gear.
When it came to the wines, I wasn’t overly impressed. Most of them were very acidic and sharp, which made them hard to enjoy, even though the aromas were lovely. I am usually a big fan of natural wines, so this was a bit of a disappointment. The highlight for me was the Nerello Mascalese red, which I thought was their...
