Ristorante Botton d'Oro — Restaurant in Lucca

This was an exceptionally lucky find. We'd never been to the restaurant before, but honestly, it was one of the most amazing meals that we've had in Italy since we've been living here. The staff were extremely friendly and catered for our party, offering recommendations and explanations when we needed them. Great wine recommendation too. The food..... oh my goodness, the food! Absolutely fantastic and both packed with flavour, and visually stunning. So good that while I was looking forward to the next course, I didn't want the current one to end. Each course, starter, first, second, and desert, were fantastic. Some new flavours that I'd never tried before, and some old favourites that were elevated to a new level. The smoked swordfish carpaccio was amazing and I would have loved to have had another plate of it! The shrimp and burrata risotto was absolutely packed with flavour. The sliced beef with rocket was incredible, and the meat literally melted in your mouth. Sorry, those were mine and just so incredible. We also had Lucca tordello, salmon fillet and others which were all fantastic. Were we all happy? Totally! Will we go back again? Definitely! Are we recommending the restaurant to everyone we know? We had an excellent dinner: the food was delicious and beautifully prepared. The staff was incredibly attentive to our group and adapted perfectly to our needs. The setting is absolutely magical, right in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, with a stunning blend of colors, lighting, and lush vegetation. Sono stato in questa villa, con l’intento di assaggiare la loro cucina, e mettere alla prova per l’ennesima volta il mio palato. Il posto proponeva sia hotel che ristorante, si presentava molto bene, sia all’esterno che all’interno, con una spaziosa area all'aperto presente di vegetazione, mentre l’interno accoglieva con stile gli ospiti proponendo una vetrata che affaccia sul giardino molto affascinante, tutto questo illuminato da una luce debole e fioca ma molto intima, con alcune sfumature originarie. Niente da contraddire alla delicatezza e raffinatezza del cibo, dando diverse possibilità di scelta e con servizio di pane senza glutine su richiesta. D’altro canto non posso dire lo stesso per il servizio; nonostante tutti i camerieri fossero molto eleganti e discreti, colui che serviva al nostro tavolo si è manifestato, nel corso della serata, molto invadente e poco elegante, cercando di fare il brillante ai nostri occhi ma che è stato per noi l’opposto, in totale contrasto con tutta la situazione, lasciandoci una punta di amaro in bocca alla fine della splendida serata.
