Ristorante Mandiga Lestru di Daniela Pirisi — Restaurant in Macumere/Macomer

Its 1430 we are in Italy, we know it can be difficult to find restaurants this late. We were hoping to go to a nearby place but there was a private event on. So this was the nearest place that came up. We approached the non-descript door cautiously. There are no tables outside. "Is it open, does it really exist?". Opening the door we hear the hubbub of diners, the waitress seats us. The menu is simple, two courses about 4 choices for each course, €14 euros altogether. My partner has the Carbonara, I take a taste and immediately regret not ordering it. Its one of the nicest I've ever tasted. My Amatriciana (my favourite pasta dish) is equally wonderful, just fantastic. I have Involtini (cabbage wraps) for main, which maybe was a bad choice for me but I wanted to try it out. Still it was well cooked and tasted great. To sum it up, a brilliant unpretentious neighbourhood restaurant. Nice friendly relaxed atmosphere. Premetto che non mi fa piacere inserire recensioni negative sul lavoro altrui e che non eravamo alla ricerca di un ristorante turistico/economico, eravamo di passaggio a Macomer e siamo stati attirati dai tanti commenti positivi, pertanto spero che si sia trattato solo di uno scivolone dovuto alla settimana di ferragosto. Iniziamo col dire che era presente solo un menù turistico da 14 €. Tre primi a scelta tra pasta al pomodoro, risotto con purpuzza e funghi e trofie al pesto e gamberetti. Il risotto era scotto e con pochissimo condimento, le trofie quasi in bianco. I secondi a scelta tra tris di carne BBQ, burger e gamberoni con pomodori. Il tris di carne non all'altezza, una fettina di pancetta, un pezzetto di salsiccia e un wurstel, quindi sempre maiale. Il wustel da supermercato non è accettabile, era da evitare. I gamberoni sporchi, ancora con il budello. Il burger mi è stato detto essere un panino, dovrebbe essere un'alternativa e non far parte di un menù completo. Contorni di patatine rigorosamente surgelate. Cucina tipica inesistente. Si salva il personale, che nonostante non sia stato veloce era cortese. Ripeto, spero si sia trattato di una giornata "straordinaria" nel qual caso dovreste comunicarlo adeguatamente ai clienti, soprattutto a quelli non abituali. We are from London visiting Sardinia with our 4 year old son and on our way to Dorgali we passed through Macomer and decided to get some lunch here. We wanted to avoid tourist traps and eat somewhere where the locals eat. The food is simple and honest, which is exactly what we wanted and therefor, very tasty.
