Definitely a worthwhile detour. This place is what you want if you want to experience Italy the Italian way. Very few tourists. We were puzzled at the gifantic parking lot on arrival on a US dinner schedule, arriving at 6:30. By 9 when we left it was packed on a Sunday night. The place is in the middle of nowhere with a magnificent view of the sunset over Lago Trisimeno and a huge outdoor seating area to be sure as many people as possible get to enjoy it. The food is a trip, starting with the menu on a huge easel, followed by a take-your-number thingy. You then find your spot and keep an eye on the large electronic number board and head inside into the fracass to place your order. The food comes right quick. Very decent prices, excellent grilled meats and sausages, wonderful tortas bread used for sandwiches, mixed salad comes with sliced star anise. Yum! Grab a beer or a bottle of local wine, sit with some friends, and enjoy a cheap meal in a divine location served up by a family that has been doing this for years while watching the sun go down over the lake. What...

A local institution - this family run restaurant draws locals from far and wide including us. They are particularly known for their Torta al testo (a kind of circular local umbrian flat bread) which you'll see baking in an open fireplace. However we go to have their deep fried seafood - which is surprisingly good considering how far from the sea we are...they also do fried lake fish (perch) and a plethora of other dishes - You take a number when entering and wait (like at a deli or supermarket counter) and order at the counter - you then pay at the till and carry your own trays to a table. When full, the trick is to grab a number immediately, THEN scout out a table. So it helps with the logistics if you are a small group. They've now opened a new section where you are served at the table, but the prices are...

This is a review of the restaurant. This place is incredibly popular, and based to the other reviews especially on weekends. Despite the crowd, we got our ticket and stood in line—it took us less than an hour, which was impressive given how busy it was. Once you place your order, it’s ready almost immediately. Everything was fresh, and the flavors were excellent. The prices are very reasonable, and both the quantity and quality of the food are outstanding. The location offers a beautiful view, both during the day and at night, which makes the experience even more special. As tourists, we thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it.
