Open Spice Caffè — Restaurant in Mantua

Positives and negatives. The positives are that this place is kind of trendy, easy to reach by car with plenty of parking space, and drinks are fairly cheap even when compared to Mantova's average. All aperitives we had (Spriz and beer) came with a nicely presented plate of nibbles and some potato chips for the table. But the service was absolutely terrible. We called several hours before visiting to book an outdoor table for 7 people for aperitives. The man at the phone, who later served us at the table, said that he didn't know if he wanted to put tables outside, that the sun would be in our eyes the whole time (it was late May and very warm) and that he maybe could do that just for us. It really made it sound like he was doing us a favour and when we arrived there were at least twenty tables prepared outside with a hundred people having drinks. Did he change his mind after my call? Was he just trying to be annoying? No idea. Anyway, it's 5 adults and two kids at our table. We order spritz and beer, one Crodino and, since my son doesn't like sparkling stuff but loves milk, we ask for a glass of cold milk. "I can't do coffee service at the table!" Said the waiter. I said that I just wanted cold milk and that, obviously, I would pay for it like a regular drink. "Milk is for coffee and I can't bring it to the table!" He went on. I then suggested that I could just go inside and get it from the bar and take it out myself. "You can't have milk on the table!" He continued. I gave up and my son had a bottle of still water instead. Cherry on the cake, we asked for the wifi password so the kids could play on their Nintendo Switch but he very rudely replied "I don't do that anymore. I only use it for the orders because now everyone has the Internet on their phones!". I can take a "no", it's being schooled that annoys me.

Anyway. We left after one drink when the mosquitoes started eating us alive and we went somewhere more accommodating. Just for reference, the Spritz were a bit watery which may explain why...

Questa mattina,Incuriosito dalle recensioni positive, decido di fermarmi per una ", colazione" veloce, dato che alla mattina, da un po' di tempo, per andare a lavoro passo questo locale. Una volta dentro, dietro al bancone tre ragazze e un ragazzo. Ho preso un caffè macchiato inizialmente, ma attirato dalle brioches dal bancone trasparente ne ho presa una da portare a lavoro. Ho chiesto una brioches con la mela,indicandola alla ragazza , purtroppo per la semplicità della questione non ho seguito cosa ha messo dentro e in pausa mi sono trovato una brioches con le uvette🤣. Può capitare ,non era male dai. La cosa bella/orrenda è che l altra ragazza mentre stavo bevendo il caffè dall' altra parte, non più sul bancone trasparente dove ho ordinato la brioches ma dall' altra parte,ho visto in diretta che raccoglieva le briciole in generale facendole scivolare giù...ma giù dove???verso tutte le brioches e non dall' altra parte,lei ha visto che l ho vista mi ha guardato e ha fatto una specie di sorriso ma sapendo della gravità del gesto secondo me. Non faccio quasi mai recensioni in generale ma io una roba così non l ho ancora mai vista. Penso sia grave. Spero di essere stato sfortunato io perché le recensioni sono tutte bellissime. Una stella purtroppo Il caffè del ragazzo andava super bene...

Il locale è in una posizione molto comoda e di passaggio, molto ampio sia all'esterno che all'interno. L'arredo esterno è un pelo trascurato, ma ha un grande potenziale. Son venuto una volta per fare colazione, mi rivolgo al banco per prendere la brioche e vengo invitato a sedermi al tavolo per chiedere poi l'ordine del bere. Aspetto circa 15 min, nel mentre mangio la brioche, solitamente preferisco mangiare intanto che bevo il caffè caldo, ma devo dire che è davvero buona. Intanto chi dovrebbe servire si ferma a chiacchierare con i clienti. Preciso che erano le 11 di sabato e che c'erano al max 15 clienti. Successivamente una delle ragazze prende il mio ordine del bere, caffè e spremuta, che mi arriva subito. Totale 5,40. In conclusione, limitandomi alla colazione, valuto tutto bene, a parte il servizio che si...
