Flavia Ristorante — Restaurant in Menfi

Last year, there was fast food place here, so we were really surprised to find a renovated posh pizzeria on the square. We went there for an 'aperitivo' and enjoyed the sunset from the porch. We noticed that things were a bit chaotic: we couldn't figure out if there was table-service (for sure there was for those who knew the owner...). Since we did not have any plans for the night and wanted to try the pizza, we stayed there also for the evening. I have to say that the service was good (considering that places in and around Menfi really lack know-how in customer-care), they were also quick, thanks also to the early dinner time (we ordered at about 8pm and were out by 9pm). Never order wine in a pizzeria, not even here where you literally sit among vineyards: they just cannot accept that somebody orders wine and not beer with the pizza. Their Nero D'Avola was really bad. However, the pizza was ok. We found it little professional that they simply cancelled with a black marker the things they did not have that night, which was basically half of the menu. They might want to change it simply. They charged you 15%, so don't consider the prices on the menu if you sit down. This was new to us, but at least we didn't have to worry about how much tip to leave. Sunto: costoso, sgarbati e incompetenti.

Non ho potuto recensire il locale perché non era ancora su maps 3 settimane fa quando malauguratamente ci sono capitato con la mia ragazza, sua madre e suo fratello. Abbiamo parcheggiato sulla piazzetta per andare in un altro locale, poi risultato pieno, nel frattempo uno di noi è passato da flavia per prendere il ticket parcheggio e già per questo si sono rivelati sgarbati e strafottenti sopratutto nella persona della signora "titolare". Però nel momento di informare gli altri della comitiva che il locale vicino fosse chiuso, chi aveva pagato il ticket parcheggio l'aveva già compilato, a quel punto ci siamo trovati a chiedere un tavolo alla signora sgorbutica domandando quanto ci volesse per mangiare e già intimando, data la visibile mancanza di efficienza nel servizio, che fosse meglio prima della scadenza del biglietto (1h e mezza più che abbondante...). Questa ci indica indistintamente la sala dicendo che potevamo scegliere quello che volevamo e noi una volta deciso ci siamo seduti. Abbiamo assistito così ad una sfilata di camerieri che andavano avanti indietro tutti insieme come fenicotteri senza un minimo di organizzazione, finché dopo aver atteso per almeno 20min il menù e dopo aver ricevuto parecchie lanciate di sguardi dai camerieri, siamo costretti noi a chiederli. Il menù è risultato poco invogliante, con piatti e prodotti non del territorio e soprattutto mooolto costoso per un localino appena aperto (tra cui coperto e servizio degno di locali più affermati e rinomati, ma soprattutto con un servizio esistente). Fatto sta che attendiamo un'altra mezz'ora buona, nella quale ci passa anche la fame a dirla tutta, sempre ammirando la processione di camerieri e gli screzi della titolare contro il cuoco/pizzaiolo (presumo marito) che ciondola nullafacente sulla porta della cucina, ma nessuno si è avvicinato a chiederci l'ordine nonostante fossimo in piena vista a tutti. Così spazientiti ci alziamo per andarcene e veniamo subito redarguiti dalla signora che si lancia prontamente a recuperare i menù, come fossero stati lontani da lei troppo tempo, per poi gridarci dietro che non si fa in quel modo... ovviamente venendo meno all'evidenza dei fatti e soprattutto perdendo l'occasione per stare in silenzio dato che il cliente ha sempre ragione.

P.S. Locale evidentemente nuovo, soggettivamente arredato male e oggettivamente brutti i tubi dei probabili futuri condizionatori a vista che...

Restaurant Flavia is a really nice place. We visited them five times during our 10 day vacation in Menfi. The food was always very good. Wine was traditional Sicilian and beer Italian. Once we ordered a cocktail and were positively surprised on how much alcohol it contained. When we order cocktails in Germany, they seem more like juice. But this cocktail was really worth the price. Unlike others wrote, they have no promblems on serving beer with pizza. We saw many (even italian) guests ordering that. Yes, serving costs are 15%, but it is written on their menu, so it was not a surprise. For us the service was more friendly and solicitous than in many other places in Sicily.
