Salisá — Restaurant in Menfi

I arrived in this restaurant after a long and tiring day with the kids (beach, no afternoon nap, cranky kids) and my husband. I was ready to be embarrassed for messy eating and long waiting hours. So we were really surprised when we arrived and we were welcomed nicely and with lots of patience. We were super-relaxed after just 15 minutes. The menu was not too long, so it was not difficult to choose and Gosh, I couldn't remember when I had eaten so well! Mussel soup in tomato sauce (a bit spicy, though, but delicious), two types of pasta, both divine. Good food, smiling waiters, quick service. The prices were reasonable if you consider that it's an elegant place on the beach and it definitely has a chef, not only a talented cook. We paid 120 euro for 4 people ordering 3 appetizers, three types of fish-based main course/pasta, 2 portions of sweets, a bottle of red wine (try Lumà, my newest discovery, a local wine cellar to be noted) and water: fair enough. We will definitely go back here....

Parto con il dirvi che se le cose negative di questo pranzo fossero state un paio non mi sarei mai presa il tempo di scrivere questa recensione. Martedì ho pranzato insieme alla mia famiglia in questo ristorante. Eravamo 4 adulti + 1 bambina. L'accoglienza non è stata delle migliori visto che il cameriere in malo modo e tutt'altro che professionale ci ha mandato fuori perché mancavano 10 minuti alle 13 ma va bene ho pensato, è il loro orario e nonostante i modi è giusto rispettarlo. Ci accomodiamo e ordiniamo tre antipasti "salisá" e io 2 ostriche. Partiamo dalle ostriche, ostriche grasse, aperte male perché in tutte due ho trovato schegge. Antipasto salisá, lasciamo stare che per 18€ di antipasto non c'era niente di fresco, lasciamo stare i carpacci PIENI d'aceto e pepe rosa (?) lasciamo stare i gamberetti "fritti" serviti freddi che poi sono quelli che si mettono nella pizza, dentro al cous cous ho trovato una mosca morta. Una mosca morta secca, non appena caduta, quella mosca era lì da giorni... Chiamo il cameriere e le dico, guardi che dentro il cous cous c'è una mosca morta e lui al posto di scusarsi mi dice "dove? Dov'è che è?" La vede anche lui e solo quando la riporta indietro si scusa per l'accaduto. Inutile dirvi che ha riportato lo stesso cous cous che ovviamente non ho mangiato. Arriva il segue e i primi erano nella norma, buoni, primi comunque da 15€ e 18€. Arriva la mia frittura di gamberi e calamari, inutile dirvi che niente era fresco anche qua, io non mi aspettavo i gamberi rossi di Mazara per carità ma anche qui quelli piccoli piccoli che di solito si mettono nella pizza, e i calamari congelati. Mia suocera ha preso un dolce ed era buono devo dire. Vado a pagare in cassa, perché volevo offrire io il pranzo e il conto me lo fa la titolare che senza dire una parola mi dà lo scontrino in mano, lo guardo e l'antipasto con la mosca è nel conto, il mio problema non è il pagare quel antipasto ma davvero dopo tutto mi sarei aspettata almeno un "mi dispiace per l'accaduto" o semplicemente un "grazie mille" dopo aver pagato un conto di 220€. No, la titolare non ha detto mezza parola, ripeto se semplicemente si fosse scusata in cassa non avrei fatto questa recensione che spero serva a loro a farli lavorare meglio dato che anche il tavolo uscito prima di noi (ritrovato poi in spiaggia) sì è...

The food here was very good and the location excellent. We had read a review that said something like it was loud being right on our road. I’m really not sure what that meant, because the road was this very small that led to the sea which the restaurant faced. The whole time we were there maybe two motor bikes, scooters, went by making a little bit of noise. I grew up around Ocean resorts and the small restaurant really reminded me of my hometown resorts 30 years ago, so small and quaint where there’s more beach than people and is very tranquil.
