Il Cortiletto di Ali — Restaurant in Minervino di Lecce

As a Canadian, exploring Puglia after my DNA test told me I’m 52% Pugliese was extremely important to me. More important to me was to find restaurants that were not touristic at all. When we got there, sometimes it’s difficult to figure out this, You ask for a table, then receive a menu etc. -You order at the counter, find a seat then have your order brought to you.

Anyways for foreigners, its the latter.

We wanted to sit outside at the front (the restaurant was completely empty at 6:30pm). And the lady at the counter wanted us to sit in the back. On such a beautiful day this isn’t what we wanted but persisted.

Another thing I am noticing (as a foreigner) is you can really tell a pizza cooked in an electric oven / gas oven vs a wood fired oven, and this is not a wood fired pizza. Ita the difference between a quick hot cook va a slower lower temp cook if that makes sense.

The pizza flavour was great, the options are fantastic! The spicy pepperoni was actually spicy which is great.

It’s a beautiful little town and a friendly experience would have made this 6/5 stars.

Abbiamo prenotato ,e all’arrivo ci hanno fatto sedere al tavolo senza menù e dopo 10 minuti abbiam dovuto prenderceli da soli perché non c’era nessuno dei 8 dipendenti a servirci,siamo andati a chiedere spiegazioni e abbiamo scoperto che il servizio era self service,dopo 30 minuti finalmente abbiamo ordinato e ci era stato detto che per gli antipasti ci volevo un bel po di tempo e quindi abbiamo ordinato solo pizze,e arrivato un ‘altro tavolo dopo di noi e hanno portato subito gli antipasti, siamo andati per l’ennesima volta a chiedere spiegazioni e ci hanno portato una frittura mista quasi bruciata,e dopo un ora e mezza finalmente sono arrivate le pizze,ma spiacevolmente quasi crude.NON consiglierei questa pizzeria...

Non cambierei per niente e nessuno al mondo la pizza di Alì. C'è stata un'azione che mi ha colpita molto di lui...un giorno entro in un bar per un buon caffè e c'era lui seduto con altri suoi amici.Prima di andarsene non soltanto ha pagato il mio caffè,ma anche di altre persone che continuavano ad entrare. Da premettere che io e lui , abbiamo un rapporto di conoscenza attraverso la sua squisita pizza. Quindi con questo vorrei dire che anche gli stranieri hanno le buone maniere e galanterie e a volte dovremmo prendere esempio, a differenza di alcuni paesani che per non pagare il caffè,ti danno le spalle e fanno finta di non vederti.
