What was supposed to be amazing birthday dinner turned into a night of horror and disgust which left me with trauma for life when I ate dinner at this restaurant. I messaged ahead of the reservation to confirm they served gluten free and vegetarian food. I have been vegetarian my entire life, never had meat or shellfish. Once I ordered my vegetarian dish at the restaurant, food appeared and I started eating. Soon after I realized that this wasn’t the dish I ordered and I confronted the server hoping for him to prove me wrong. Unfortunately they had given me shellfish with my pasta and I couldn’t tell the difference until it was too late. Since I never had shellfish in my life, i didn’t know I could be possibly allergic to it. I started to hyperventilate and later that night my throat started to close up and rash appeared on my neck and cheeks. I threw up all night long and all of this was caused by carelessness of the server, the chef and my own lack of ability to differentiate between a meat dish and a vegetarian dish. I had high hopes but now I am so disappointed in this establishment. This incident goes to show how little attention they pay to people’s life threatening allergies and dietary restrictions when they claim to be one of the best in town. I am glad I found out that I’m allergic to crustaceans but I wish I didn’t have to find it this way.
I hope everyone learnt a valuable lesson at my expense. PLEASE pay attention to allergies. Due to your negligence, Someone’s life could be in grave danger if they’re severely allergic...
Read moreWe booked the wine lover lunch and got very dissapointed by the poor and mis-matched food. The wines were very good (rosso di montepulciano, brunello, moscadello dolce). They were poorly paired with an absolute mediocre flan (nothing crunchy to balance), tasteless ragu lasagna (more pasta than anything, almost like a mille-feuille) and lava cake (already sweet and heavy, instead for ex of a fruit based desert, or cantucci). We didnt have a sommelier, but a waitress lost in translation who did the service superficially, clumsy, on fast-forward. Didnt ever asked how was everything, if we want anything else, like a coffee for ex. So we got up and paid the 160 euro for a soulless experience. Eat-pay-leave kind of tourist trap. Very dissapoiting for a foodie, in spite of the very nice wines that deserved a much tastier playground...
Read moreI'm not sure how anyone could give this place any less than 5 stars. And the guy who had the problem with the lamb is on crack. I had that lamb and it was amazing. We stumbled upon Il Campaccio and decided to give it a try because it was cute. It ended up being one of the most delicious meals we've had in Italy, which is saying a lot, because we've been feasting like kings for weeks around Tuscany. They started us off with a little glass of process (delicious) and a tasting of potatoes and grilled octopus, which was delightful. We ordered the scallops for the appetizer, pumpkin gnocchi, and the lamb. For dessert we had the tiramisu and some sort of white chocolate tort thing. Everything was incredible. Especially the gnocchi and for the love of God that tiramisu tasted like Jesus came down from heaven and...
