Go eat at restaurant Paisa (and stay for a night or two as well!), you will not be disappointed!! I have spent a LOT of time traveling and eating all over Campania. I am a chef and restauranteur in the US, and focus on Southern Italian cuisine. I say this to say- I know when a restaurant is the real deal in Campania. And Paisa is the real deal, 1000%! Pasquale’s cooking is exceptional. An extraordinarily talented chef. A wonderful human being. I have come back to Paisa now many times and it has become a home for me in Campania. The tuna ragù I had there was a life changing dish. Every bite you eat from Pasquale Tarallo’s cooking feels like you are getting a big hug, southern Italian hospitality at its finest. When you go to Paisa, you are treated like family. You are welcomed so deeply into Pasquale (and his wonderful wife Saria’s) home, and you will feel like you are truly experiencing the best of Cilento and the Campanian coast. And the rooms are wonderful!!! Wake up, go for a swim at the beach a few feet away, and then come back and eat a fantastic meal....
Read moreWe went out of our way to find this restaurant on the Cilento "slow food" list, and it looked at first like we were in a wrong place -- a little quiet corner that seemed unlikely to host a great place to eat. Boy, were we happy we made the detour! The restaurant was there alright, and Pasquale greeted us with a warm smile in the dining room. At what times are you open? - we asked? We're open now! - he said. We stayed for what turned out to be one of the most amazing lunches of our lifetime. Exquisitely and most creatively prepared food from the freshest possibly ingredients. To give one example: Does pasta Bolognese have pork? - we asked? No, it's not meat, it's tuna! That was simply hard to believe, simply incredible. I could go on and on, but let me just say that we came back the following night for dinner. We were treated like long-lost relatives by the entire Pasquale's family this time. Unbelievable food, unbelievable hospitality. One of the best restaurant experiences ever, by...

My husband and I had an extraordinary lunch at Ristorante Paisa, and it was so good that the next day we returned for dinner, even though we were staying in a different town. (Next time, we will know to stay at the Paisa Guest House!) Every dish features pure local ingredients, reflecting the wisdom of the Mediterranean Diet and the principles of the Slow Food movement: from the fish freshly caught from the sea that is immediately outside the terrace, to the vegetables from the local farms of Montecorice, to the herbs in the house-made liqueur that were gathered from the hills that rise behind the restaurant. Pasquale and his family hosted us warmly, and our hearts and our senses were delighted by...
