Our purpose to stay in Montese, MO, Italy, was to meet cousins that one of my older sisters had searched for and found 7 years ago, (as our dad was born in Italy in 1902, we still had many cousins there, but no one knew who they were). As it turned out, we not only had the privilege of meeting many of our cousins, we also got to know a very lovely, typically Italian village, in the mountains a couple hours drive northeast of Florence. And Hotel Miramonti made the stay even more special. The standard rooms are on the large size and spotless with comfortable beds. But the magical things about the hotel were the view from the balcony and the marvelous restaurant. Our morning breakfasts did not disappoint and the dinners were wonderful (not to mention great wine). Everyhting was reasonably priced; the rooms were 65E each, and included breakfast. Lunches and dinners were also moderately priced, especially when you figure in the high quality of the food. Aslo, the two people that own and run the hotel-reataurant, Elisabeta and her brother Leonardo, are very hospitable people. The hotel is very central for visiting the shops and the town castle and the market on the square. And there is free parking included. Other special things that happen at this hotel are family dinners, First Communions, weddings, all giving us, the tourists, a peek into real Italian life. Both Montese and Hotel Miramonti are worth the visit and helped make our trip...

Read moreWe go to Montese every year and visit the Terrazza restaurant without fail. The staff are always very welcoming and the service is excellent. We always find the best in modern Italian as well as superb traditional food, and the wine list is without compare, I always have trouble trying to choose from the wonderful selection. I recommend you stop at La Terrazza if you are passing through Montese; if you can, get a table with a view - that way you can appreciate the majesty of the...
