Route 66 pub — Restaurant in Mussomeli

If I could give half a star I would. I have eaten twice here earlier this year and the service was good and the food was excellent however this was back in March. We came again this evening hoping for another excellent meal - unfortunately we waited 1.5 hours for steak which was not the kind of steak we asked for - the steak was not a filet steak but a T bone steak. Both steaks were covered in so much sea salt the salt crystals were falling off the steak as we tried to eat it. Troppo troppo sale. How anyone could eat that much salt I do not know. It was so salty we let the waiter know who told the chef, as we did not eat half of the steak and ate mostly the chips. When we came to pay the bill it came to 109 euros. We asked how much was the steak and why, as we had explained the steak was too salty to eat and we only ate half so this was a lot of money for something we could not eat. The chef was brought out from the kitchen and was extremely rude to us, I have never been spoken to that way by restaurant staff before. I was trying to translate in Italian what I was trying to explain using Google translate - of course they did not understand fluent English so perhaps they misunderstood however instead of apologising and offering to take some money off the bill the chef was very rude to me asking what we want to pay, and made very rude comments about me to my boyfriend which was not necessary, in front of other people in the restaurant which was extremely embarrassing for us. We were made to feel humiliated. This was a very unpleasant experience ruined by the bad food and the even worse unprofessional service. I wonder if we had been Italian would we have been treated the same way. It is a shame as we had a good experience last time. I will not be coming back here again. I would recommend the staff learn some customer service, and perhaps bring in more chefs if this chef could not handle the orders on her own. Ate there last night. Wonderful food and service.I had the Carbanara which used a different pasta from what I'm used to. It was excellent! I started with Caprese Salad.Wonderful and the presentation was spot on. Ended with a hot Pistachio pastry. We don't get anything like this...

I loved this restaurant! Stayed next door in Mussomeli for 4 days and had great service, food and drinks here. Everything was really good; place was packed (one of few Mussomeli restaurants open later for dinner besides pizza) and staff rushed around doing their very best....
