We visited the restaurant during our holiday and - unfortunately - made some unpleasant experience with the service. We asked whether it would be possible to order the starters first and continue with the order later and were told that this would not be possible as the restaurant would be fully booked. However, the restaurant remained empty and we remained the only guests on that evening until we left. Also, we were told in a rather unfriendly way that it would not be possible to add tomatoes and/or mozzarella to the pasta (being in Italy!) and that it would only be possible to order what's on the menue. Being the only guests on that evening, it would have been very easy to at least offer to ask the cook whether some tomatoes could be added... (again: tomatoes, nothing special or exclusive). Further, the service wanted to take away our antipasti even though there was still cheese on the plate and we were still eating. All summed up, we definitely would have expected a more friendly and welcoming service and flexibility in view of the restaurant's price category (we left more than 100 Euros for two) and the fact that we were the only guests on that evening. Taking Sicilian flavours and incorporating them in new and delicious ways- Rosso di Sera handmade spaghetti infused with sword fish and accompanied with delicate wild fennel and aubergine compote; paccheri with mussels subtly infused with the richness of a local cheese. Accompanying wine locally sourced and perfect rich flavours. Wonderful staff guiding you through the choices, warm and friendly to complete the enjoyment of the evening. Wow. And more. What an incredibly delightful experience! After we canceled our initial reservation, we were graciously accommodated anyway with our six children and the most naturally kind and thoughtful staff we have encountered anywhere. The food was amazing—creative, local, and delicious with flavor combinations that were both unexpected and tantalizing. The prices were very reasonable and Sebastiano, our server, was absolutely wonderful. The grounds were breathtakingly beautiful and so very well-maintained. Location molto suggestiva nella campagna siciliana, terrazza tenuta bene e tavoli con maioliche molto carine. La parte positiva della recensione purtroppo finisce qui. Per quanto riguarda il cibo, gli antipasti provati (parmigiana e millefoglie) risultavano un po' sciapi e anonimi. Capisco la volontà di dare un tocco personale ai piatti della tradizione ma il processo di innovazione deve avere un senso e produrre risultati positivi, mentre i piatti in questione sembravano quasi un minestrone di ingredienti in cui nessun sapore particolare emergeva. I primi invece (provati gli gnocchetti al pesto di pistacchio e la pasta con le sarde) risultavano ben eseguiti, nulla di speciale, molto aderenti alla tradizione ma sempre un po' indietro di sapore. Anche il dolce era ok. Altro punto dolente è il servizio, soprattutto quello degli uomini che sembrano quasi svogliati e frettolosi di liberare i tavoli il prima possibile. Molto genitili invece le donne. In sintesi, il ristorante in sè non sarebbe male se fosse una trattoria tipica con un pelo di innovazione. Tuttavia, l'innovazione sembra quasi un esercizio di stile e soprattutto i prezzi sono totalmente spropositati in relazione alla riuscita dei piatti. Ad esempio, se pago la parmigiana come in altri posti che la fanno meglio, comunque il gioco non vale la candela. Finchè la fascia di prezzo rimarrà quella attuale (prezzo medio 40/50€) conviene guardare altrove.
