Doppia Vela — Restaurant in Ortona

This is our favourite place to eat in Ortona. The food is just great - the spaghetti with clams and pistachio crumble are particularly delicious. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere warm and welcoming. Our waitresses were so lovely, friendly and helpful and more than willing to offer variations of the menu....one of the two times we ate there for our evening meal during the three nights we spent in Ortona we couldn't decide between the fish-of-the-day options, so they offered us some of each at no extra cost. We were also given a discount (for no particular reason other than genuine gratitude) and a little tipple at the end of each meal and were personally thanked by the patron which was a really lovely touch. Next time we are in Ortona or anywhere nearby we will definitely come here again. Doppia Vela is a fantastic restaurant with a beautiful view! We stayed in Ortona for 2 weeks and had lunch at Doppia Vela at least 4 times. The food was absolutely delicious, and very diversified. The fish was so fresh and the pasta dishes were very flavorful, and definitely homemade. Everything was made to order and it was worth it. The owner, GianLuca, went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and him and his staff were very attentive to everything, including our dietary restrictions. tutto gira intorno a Gianluca. lui è il riferimento, anima di questo ristorante. ma attenzione se Gianluca non avesse quel "tesoro" di staff -tutte donne toste, decise, sempre sorridenti e veramente brave-, non potrebbe permettersi una gestione così originale. Gianluca ci sa fare dall'inzio alla fine, ha la preogativa di capire al volo il cliente che automaticamente diventa "un amico", e lo mette a suo agio in tutto e per tutto. con vera sincerità, ti accoglie come se non ci fossero altri clienti. sta con te fino a che non ti mette a tuo agio raccontandoti la sua storia e cosa vuole offrire ai suoi clienti/amici. nel momento in cui decidi per il " sì " (ma non potresti fare diversamente) , ti senti trascinato da tutto lo staff in una sensazione di familiarità, "amicizia", sincerità, affabilità, tranquillità, insomma a te non rimane altro che aspettare che il mondo di Gianluca & C. si materializzi nel tuo piatto e nel tuo bicchiere ( a proposito ho ancora il gusto della bottiglia di rosato che ci ha aperto e che, increduli abbiamo finito -in 2 -, con ritocco finale con il brindisi, inaspettato, con tutto lo staff che è venuto al ns tavolo a stappare un altra bottiglia...).

anche se il tempo passa e non te ne accorgi, va apprezzato come la cucina riesca ad ottimizzare i tempi di uscita delle ordinazioni. Gianluca farà strada, non ci sono dubbi. la sua partenza è ottima e ci sa fare. materie prime di qualità e fornitori selezionati. prezzi adeguati, corretti, calibrati..INTELLIGENTI..

quindi ancora qualche piccolo affinamento, ma per il resto alla grande. concludo scrivendo che il mio voto era di quattro stelle, con la promessa di tornare per dare la quinta, ma la tua energia e impegno mi hanno fatto cambiare idea e voto il massimo per rendere il giusto merito al grande Gianluca ( uno dei pochi ristoratori SINCERI che abbia incontrato) , un romano...
