Trattoria del Conte — Restaurant in Orvieto

On our way to Sant'Angelo, we decided to take a detour to a Trattoria to try some Umbrian/Tuscan cuisine. We chose the spot based on its reviews on Google Maps, and it did not disappoint. We arrived right when they opened—I've noticed that most Trattorias in Italy typically open around 12:30. While the exterior may not have looked like much, the terrace quickly filled up as soon as we were seated. As others have mentioned, once all the tables are occupied, the service can slow down, and there may be some delays with orders coming out. But if you're not in a rush, it's definitely worth the wait. The place is clearly popular, and it's easy to see why. The food is simply spectacular. I had the rabbit—Coniglio alla Cacciatora—accompanied by sautéed courgettes with Parmesan—Zucchine in padella con parmigiano. Both dishes were incredible, with flavors that made it feel like you were eating from someone's home kitchen rather than a restaurant. And the home made, unsalted bread it's the highlight of the table. For dessert, they served my favorite—Tiramisu. It was refreshingly light and not too heavy, so much so that I found myself tempted to order a second portion. After dining at several other Trattorias, I'm starting to believe it's hard to find bad...

Well this is a tough one, the location is fine (although there were some problems with flies and wasps outside) and there was enough parking space but we were early. The food is simple and rustic, but we like that, the quality is really fine and everything is homemade. And it is very affordable. However, the service simply could not handle the large number of guests, so hire more staff! Which mainly resulted in a long wait between courses and especially between main course and dessert. You are simply forgotten and that was the worst thing after dessert and coffee, wanting to pay seems like something they are not looking forward to. And we were clearly not the only ones. Finally this; the staff did not seem to be in a good mood and walked around...

A Orvieto per turismo, ci ha portato in questa trattoria agreste (10 km dal centro)  la nostra amica orvietana, che ce l’ha presentata come «in assoluto il posto dove si mangia meglio, a prezzi ragionevoli». Avendo mangiato più volte a Orvieto e in vari locali, non ho avuto questa impressione, ma è comunque un locale che consiglio, con i suoi pro e qualche contro. L’ambiente è rustico e ha spazi molto ridotti, ma è pulito e ordinato: nel complesso dà quell’aria di famiglia che ha i suoi estimatori. È però un giorno di maggio ventoso e ancora freddino, per cui la scelta di mangiare all’interno è stata obbligata. La nostra amica sperava di poter mangiare fuori, perchè è così - ha detto - che avremmo apprezzato davvero il posto. Stessa cosa l’ho sentita commentata da altri clienti (quasi tutti habitué del locale), per cui i tavoli nel giardino sono un valore aggiunto da considerare per chi viene nella bella stagione.

Il servizio è stato celere, ma poco empatico da parte della titolare. Molto meglio da parte della giovane e sorridente cameriera. Ben accolti anche i cani.

Il menù (tutto di carne, che ho integralmente allegato) non è vasto, ma è curato e gli ingredienti sono davvero di qualità. Anche l’impegno del cuoco è evidente. In due abbiamo preso tagliolini ai carciofi freschi, che ho apprezzato, e “spaghettoni in falsa carbonara con crema di peperoni gialli e zucchine saltate”, che ho MOLTO apprezzato. Un ossobuco  di vitello in umido di pomodoro (squisito) e uno spiedino di carne mista: non esaltante, ma accettabile. Ottimi i contorni (agretti e fagiolini corallo) che avevano ancora il sapore dell’orto. Ottimo anche il gelato artigianale con fragole, così così lo zuccotto con crema e cioccolato. Compresa un’acqua, ½ litro di rosso della casa, il coperto, 2 caffè e un amaro, il prezzo è stato arrotondato a € 80. Tutto sommato un rapporto prezzo/qualità che non regala niente, ma corretto.

Il servizio igienico è dignitoso e apparentemente anche accessibile per disabili. È però uno solo per tutti, inoltre è di laborioso accesso per le carrozzine, perché stretto e con un angolo d’entrata che non sono sicuro...
