Trattoria da Salvatore — Restaurant in Petralia Soprana

This was one of the best places we ate during our 10 days in Sicily. It was the kind of food we had been looking for the whole trip. The interior was very cozy on the cold wet day that we visited. We were so grateful that they were able to accommodate us. The owner was a very nice, gentle and jolly man. His photos, news clippings, memories and sense of humour adorning his walls. Somehow we felt honoured and humbled to be patrons in what looks like a long history. The bread was excellent. The grilled vegetables were simple but superb (we ordered more to take away as a cold dish for supper). The pasta portions were generous portions and rich in flavour. The chef really doesn't hold back on the cheese. Both were very good. We only wish we could have tried more on the menu. They also have a really beautiful copper pizza oven in one corner. Sono una persona gentile e disponibile e lo sono stato anche in questa spiacevole esperienza. Però non sono uno stupido ed esser io quello gentile contro un ristoratore che mi tratta, in più occasioni, in maniera poco rispettosa non lo accetto. Se vengo da turista non significa che sia stupido, cosa che in Italia invece è consuetudine tra i ristoratori turistici… ”chi se ne fotte!!!questo viene una volta, domani il locale sarà pieno uguale” C’ero gia stato “Da Salvatore” e L ho ricordato a lui stesso, mica per avere favori, era una sorta di complimento..ma all’esordio ho capito che avevano una giornata no! Abbiamo atteso 1 ora e 45 tra antipasto e una grigliata di carne senza che qualcuno se ne fosse curato ed è stato estenuante. Alle verdure grigliate la ciliegina disgustosa,sopra una torta già venuta male, è stato ricevere un piatto con verdure gelide da frigo. Just a very special experience with Salvatore and familia in this lovely town. The food was just wonderful- regional dishes from firsts to lasts. The restaurant has been in family hands for years and the walls are full of history that predates it.
