I've been in Ponza for a whole week and I was lucky to discover this place on the first day. I had lunch here every day and it has been one wonderful experience after the other one. The food changes often depending on the fresh catch of the day and the local fresh ingredients. I have tried a fish cooked in water oil and hot peppers that was heavenly. I also tried a very particular dish made out of fish tripe. Delish! Octopus with cherry tomatoes(super tender). Tuna tartare (one of my favorites). Pasta with botarga. Yummm. Fried seafood (cooked to perfection). And for dessert I triend a ricotta and pear tart with a nutty dough.....light and fluffy, fabulous. Read moreLet me begin with the location, the hike there is long and steep i haven't seen many comments about this but to me the walk down was brutal and obviously the walk back up was worse, be warned you will walk down a lot to get to the place and if you go at night its not that well lit so bring your phone charged so you can use the flashlight of it. That said the food was good and very good portions, the service ummm one lady was very rude ans almost didn't attend us but then one guy attended us and it was amazing he explained everything and it was great from then on. Read moreLovely fish in a gorgeous beachside setting. But ..... miscommunication re 2 small lobsters @ €86.50 (yes, eighty six) each (yes, each) all left a very sour taste when the bill arrived.
We complained and after much hand waving our restaurant owner reluctantly knocked €50 off the bill.
Hence 2 stars.
In fairness, otherwise service was fine and food good value. So maybe just don't order lobster.
Note: Beware access via steep stairway is not for the faint hearted, but worth it when you land. Plus Google maps directions on foot...
