Almanegra — Restaurant in Porto Cesareo

Horrible experience.

This place is a tourist trap that only cares about making money. Food was shockingly bad for the price. Please if you want a relaxing night with good service and decent food find somewhere else!

We came in as a group of 7, and ordered our food in italian whilst pointing at the menu. When the food finally arrived 2 of the plates were missing. We alerted the waiter who said the lady who had taken our orders had made a mistake due to the language barrier. We then very clearly repeated the 2 missing orders. Another 15 minutes passed. They brought out 1 plate. At this point, everyone had finished with their food and we alerted the waiter once again that 1 plate had still not arrived. He then said that they had made the order wrong again. Shocked, we repeated the order for the third time, he offered us some “complementary” wine and we waited for the plate to arrive. The plate finally arrived after 20 minutes and was so different to what we had imagined that the girl who ordered it did not eat it herself. We later found out that they had given her the completely WRONG meal. This goes beyond a careless mistake to complete negligence and lack of care.

However, it does not end here.

When they brought us the bill we noticed that they had not only charged us for the WRONG order (that they had brought after a painful 1 hour wait), and the extra wine which they had OFFERED us in compensation for this wait, but also a whole other plate that no one had ordered (8 meals instead of 7). The night ended with a member of the group having to argue with the manager about this. This man did not even want to remove the mysterious 8th meal that we were being charged for. We received no discount and were forced to pay for the “complementary” wine that we did not even want, as well as the meal that they incorrectly made.

Truly ruined our first night in Italy and caused a huge amount of stress.

Ho recentemente avuto l’opportunità di cenare presso il ristorante Almanegra a Porto Cesareo, attratto dalle numerose recensioni positive e dall’ambiente raffinato che prometteva un’esperienza culinaria di alto livello. La mia visita, tuttavia, è stata caratterizzata da alti e bassi che mi portano a condividere alcune riflessioni.

Il Cibo: Un’Esperienza Soddisfacente

Partendo dal punto di forza del ristorante, il cibo è stato indubbiamente di qualità. I piatti che abbiamo ordinato erano preparati con ingredienti freschi e ben presentati. In particolare, il pesce era saporito e cucinato alla perfezione, esaltando i sapori autentici del mare. Anche i primi piatti, con la pasta fatta in casa, hanno confermato la reputazione di Almanegra per la cucina tradizionale rivisitata con un tocco moderno. Ogni portata sembrava curata nei minimi dettagli, e il gusto non ha deluso le aspettative.

Il Servizio: Un Aspetto Deludente

Purtroppo, il servizio è stato il grande punto dolente della nostra serata. Nonostante l’ottima qualità del cibo, l’attesa tra le portate è stata a dir poco estenuante. Abbiamo dovuto aspettare più di un’ora prima di ricevere il primo piatto, e anche le portate successive sono arrivate con un ritardo considerevole. Questo ha decisamente influito negativamente sull’esperienza complessiva, creando un senso di frustrazione che ha in parte offuscato il piacere del pasto.

Il personale si è dimostrato gentile, ma la lentezza del servizio è stata difficilmente giustificabile, soprattutto considerando che il ristorante non era particolarmente affollato quella sera. Avrei potuto comprendere un certo ritardo se ci fosse stato il pienone, ma in questo caso è stato evidente un problema organizzativo che spero il locale possa risolvere al più presto.

Conclusioni

Almanegra ha sicuramente del potenziale grazie alla qualità eccellente del cibo che propone, ma l’esperienza complessiva è stata compromessa da un servizio inefficiente. Tornerei in futuro solo con la speranza che questi problemi vengano risolti, perché con un servizio più efficiente, potrebbe davvero essere uno dei migliori ristoranti della zona. Se non avete fretta e potete tollerare tempi di attesa lunghi, il ristorante potrebbe comunque valere una visita per la bontà...

If i could give 0 stars i would. Terrible food, and horrible service. We came in as a group of 7 and we ordered food in Italian whilst also pointing at the menu to make it very clear. 5 plates arrived, and 2 were missing. We alerted the waiter and 20 minutes later the 6th plate of food arrived however there was still one missing. We again, alerted the waiter and waited half an hour for the final plate of food. At this point everyone was already done eating. They gave us the wrong plate, despite repeating 3 times which orders were missing. The staff attempted to use the "language barrier" as an excuse which was no use because we ordered in italian whilst also pointing at the menu.
