L'Ostrica Ristorante Art Gallery — Restaurant in Portoferraio

L'Ostrica Ristorante Art Gallery is an upscale romantic restaurant located at the far end of an extremely picturesque narrow street near the beachside of “Forno”, a 15 min car ride from Portoferraio (~8.2 km). Facing the sea at sunset, on a lovely Kartell lamps dim-lighted table with jazz/lounge music on the background eating octopus sauce spaghetti is a true quality experience. The whole surroundings resemble a wonderful Italian watercolor masterpiece but you can enjoy also an actual art gallery inside the restaurant with paintings/photos by Luciano Mortula, the restaurant owner, and have him explain you his artworks and the “cult of quality” of his dishes. No need to mention quality obviously comes at a price and you should expect a reasonably priced bill but totally worth it. Went with my girlfriend, our dinner menu: Acciughe Marinate, Burratina Bio, Datterini Confit, Salsa Verde (23€); Gnocchetti di Patata Viola, Cernia, Brunoise di Pomodoro, Cappero di Pantelleria, Scorza di Limone (27€); Linguine artigianali “Pastificio Cocco” al Ragù di Polpo (27€); Fiori di Zucca Fritti (12€); Tiramisù al Pistacchio di Bronte (14€); 2 Glasses of Greco white wine (7€ each); add 4 € each for the service cutlery; Top choice for your romantic stay in wonderful Elba island. Mind that the restaurant does not have a private parking and it is extremely difficult to find a spot in the tiny village, also the road to the place can be very dark during night therefore consider coming by taxi or park up the street and have a walk down...

The whole experience there was just terrible. First of all is not easy to find it and once you finally get there there is no place to park the car. We sat and waited 40 min for the dishes to arrived just for them to be ok, not bad but definitely not good either.

We chose this place because they also have an "art gallery" inside, but it's incredibly boring and not artistic at all, they are just vacation pictures took with a really expensive camera, very similar to most of the Shutterstock images you can find on internet.

We spent the entire evening in plain disappointment and on top of that we had to pay a ridiculous amount of money for it.

There are so many nicer places on the island with better food and right prices. Better go...

Molto gentili e cortesi, porzioni molto ridotte e in proporzione molto costose, in effetti qualsiasi piatto costa più del ristorante "LA GHIOTTA "dell'hotel Hermitage che è un 5 stelle. Anche il piattino di benvenuto sembrava uscire dalla "nouvelle cuisine" come tutte le altre pietanze del resto , antipasto molto scarso e davvero ridicolo nelle porzioni, i primi erano buoni ed anche il secondo, i dolci non lo erano affatto, mentre il polipo era immangiabile sia per il sapore che avendolo condito loro di default hanno usato dell'aceto MA NON È DETTO CHE A TUTTI PIACCIA L'ACETO E POI LO CHIEDO CON ISTATE E MI SRRIVANA UN PIATTINON RIDICOLO CON PARATE TAGLIATE A PEZZETTINI MIGNON GIÀ CONDITE ANNEGATE NELL'ACETO E NEL PREZZEMOLO SURGELATO... MA È DIFFICILE FAR CONDIRE A CHI PAGA IL PIATTO COME MEGLIO CREDE???? E POI PERCHÉ ARROGARSI IL DIRITTO DI VONDIRE VOI??? POTETE USARE COME TUTTI LE BUSTINE MONODOSE DA OFFRIRE AL CLIENTE, CERTO FORSE HA UN COSTO MA CREDETEMI DI SICURO NESSUNO POTRÀ LAMENTARSI DI QUESTO ACCORGIMENTO. IL PAESAGGIO E' MOLTO SUGGESTIVO MERAVIGLIOSA LA VISTA SUL MARE. consiglierei di migliorare le porzioni... PS/ ANCHE UN SORRISO DA PARTE DEI CAMERIERI NON...
