Osteria "Pensavo Peggio" — Restaurant in Rimini

We ate dinner here, we came without reservation. There was no queue but we waited for a few minutes to be seated (they were definitely understaffed, the waiters seemed very busy and tired 😔). We had 2 appetizers- 1 simple bruschetta with red and yellow cherry tomatoes, was very simple and yet tasty. My boyfriend had the stracciatella, also tasty. Then for the main course he had the beef steak. He ordered medium but he got a rare steak (you can observe in the photos). It was tender, but definitely cooked on too high temperature, as the exterior tasted a bit burnt and the interior was undercooked (for medium). Potatoes were 80% ok, but some of them were burnt. I got the seabass called "crazy waters" on the menu, I asked if it contains potatoes and the waiter said it had baked potatoes; it should have contained potatoes, tomatoes and olives according to the menu. When it came, there were maybe 10 grams of very tiny potato cubes, with a rather good looking sauce. The unforgivable error which determined this 2 star rating was the fact that the fish still had all of its scales on the skin, so could not be eaten. I called the waited to report this error and asked if I could get something else to eat. He then hurried to take my plate and did not respond, only to come back with a plate with no sauce, no tomatoes, small pieces of fish fillet (which he picked from the initial plate), olives and additionaly some baked potatoes (see pictures). They made me pay the full price for this dish, saying that "they added the baked potatoes to compensate", but the potatoes should already be part of the dish, so I guess I am the fool here for accepting this. Would definitely not recommend eating here! Really...

Provato questo locale situato in una traversa della SS16 che conduce al lungomare. È piuttosto frequentato, complice il periodo di luglio che sicuramente incide sull’affluenza. Nonostante ciò, la cucina si è difesa bene nei piatti ordinati. Osservando anche le portate degli altri tavoli, credo che la cucina sia proprio il punto di forza del posto.

Il locale è piuttosto piccolo, e si percepisce chiaramente la volontà di essere rapidi nell’alternanza dei clienti. Ne è prova l’avvertimento ricevuto all’arrivo: il tavolo sarebbe stato disponibile per circa un’ora. Una prassi insolita altrove, soprattutto considerando che la prenotazione era stata fatta un mese prima tramite TheFork.

Questo dettaglio ha inevitabilmente condizionato l’atmosfera, sovrastando l’aspetto culinario. Quando si va a cena fuori, ci si aspetta un minimo di tranquillità, non un tempo limite come in mensa di lavoro. Dalla risposta ricevuta dalla struttura si evince che in questo locale se si prenota con l'applicazione Thefork si ha un trattamento che prevede un pranzo// cena con un minutaggio ( un ora e un quarto) che si potrebbe evitare prenotando direttamente , una sorta di secondo livello, piaccia o meno. Detto ciò, vanno comunque riconosciute le capacità della cucina e la cortesia del servizio, seppur in un contesto influenzato dalla fretta.Vorrei rispondere al gestore che non ho scelto il tavolo con prepotenza ma mi sono rifiutato di andare a cenare dietro una porta per via del caldo ( leggo da altra recensione " posto in castigo"), un posto che d'estate e senza climatizzatore non dovrebbe essere usato,fosse stato inverno.. invece ho indicato un tavolo che era vuoto e senza prenotazione presente,in caso contrario non mi sarei permesso di pretendere.Se non si vuogliono malintesi meglio mettere un cartoncino di occupato come fanno tutti, inoltre se fosse stata una scelta impossibile si sarebbe potuta comunicare e avrei preso un' altra decisione ( di lasciarvi il...

We came to this place for dinner on our first night in Rimini.

As a compliment, they served fresh homemade bread with olive oil and tarallino.

We ordered Frittura Calamari e Gamberi, which was very tasty, the portion was also quite large. Lasagna al ragú, which we ordered next, was also very tasty. For dessert, we ordered Tiramisu, which was no less tasty than the two previous dishes.

I would like to highlight the service separately, the waiter (or was it the owner?) was very friendly and constantly asked if everything was good.

We liked everything very much and we will definitely return to this...
